In other words ................ she has taken the information from the Census, and assumed that Henry and Jael Burfitt are the grandparents of her children on the 1891 Census, where I think they are Jael and her second husband.



I wonder if it would be worth paying for Henry Burfitt's marriage certificate from 1885 to see who he married. You only need to put his name on the request. It would cost £7, but may be worth it to solve the question

In the same way, getting John Herridge's certificate from 1860 would show who he really married ..... I did find a John Norris with wife Jane on the 1861 Census, and believe that John married Jael.

I can't believe all that you ladies have done for me, I was amazed when I came back on today and saw everything here, thank you so much I have just been looking into everything before I replied to you. At last Jael is sorted out courtesy of you both, yes it is an unusual name that you wouldn't have thought it would give so many problems.
Do you think you could possible do me another favour now, I will put a new thread up so this doesn't go on and on.
Also could you please tell me what BVRI is?

Julia, BVRI is British Vital Records Index, a set of 16 cd's that you purchase from LDS Church through the Familysearch site. I don't really recommend buying them. You have to be really lucky to get a hit. For instance they have marriages in Mere but not births.
