You did the right thing in sending him a personal message.

You beat me on Emma, I hadn't mentioned her to you yet and I had found a marriage but wasn't sure if I had the correct person, it looks like I did.
All looks rosy

I just do not believe that so many in a fmaily could not appear on one of the censuses!!


I come back to my alien space ship theory!!!


Of course, the other explanation could be that there is a page (or more) missing from the census!

Glad you think so, I myself don't think there is match between us but you never know. Henry doesn't seem to come up at all.

Before I forget Fanny was married to Charles Harding and on the 1901 census they should possible have two children Herbert c1898 and Charles c1901 - hope that is a help.

Didn't you mention Emma in your posting above at 04:36??

So I did! I found the marriage after.

One thing I might ask you. One of my husbands great uncles Richard William Dean/e seemed to disappear after 1881 - can find no deaths etc., His second cousin thought that he might have gone to USA but that has been checked out by a kind lady on Genes who has looked on 1900 & 1910 census but I didn't ask her about the 1890 Census.
Another thing that Gill said was that he could have gone to Canada, this was mentioned to her only the other day, is there a possibility of looking up census from 1881 at all in Canada. Now I am really going a bit far aren't I but only asking the question as I am not sure what to do, you might be able to come up with something.

I don't know much about searching in Canada! I am the immigrant, so I haven't had to do much.

You could try putting "census Canada" into your search engine ....... I think I did that once some years ago.

If I remember correctly, most of them are free to look at, but they are not as easy as the UK ones, as in some cases you ahve to go province by province!

I am going to say goodnight now, I have been doing a lot of things while you have been checking for me and I have paperwork everywhere so I will have to start sorting them out.

I was born in Oldham, just north of Manchester, Lancashire.

Husband is from Chester, his mother was Welsh.

We married in 1967, went to Texas for a year, then came up to Canada in 1968 for "2 years", decided it was home, and stayed here!

We were lucky ... husband got a job he loved (teaching at a university where they didn't care what type of research he was doing .... as long as he did do some!!). And I had a job I loved for just over 30 years working on the research side at the university's botanical garden.

In addition, husband's job gave us the opportunity to travel all over the place ...... which suited us both down to the ground. For example, it allowed us to spend a year in Melbourne in the mid-1970's at LaTrobe University.

I will be around also, not sure yet if I am after anything, it just all depends when I have checked through everything. I don't really want to start anything new if I only have one day. I still have to check out births etc.,
Had a quick look on google, Canadian Census came up WOW! as you said it goes by the Province and if you don't know you are finished.

Your husband is the same as George, his mother was Welsh as you have probably noted by now.

We emigrated in 1965 with our two young children and 13 months later I had my lovely daughter, born on my birthday so that was a lovely surprise.

I was born in Folkestone, Kent and that is where I met George. I love going back there, it is not what it used to be but that doesn't matter to me it is where I was born and has a special place in my heart. Wish I could go back more often but not possible.

George & I are both retired and doing my family tree is special to me, I have done (or more to the point) Genes have done a lot since I first started with them in February 2007. Once I get started I can't stop and that is not always good but it is my hobby now and I love it. Also you meet some lovely people and make friends along the way as well as finding family.

At the moment over here we are experiencing a lousy summer, it has been rain and more rain, temperatures down, only getting between 20 and 30 degrees. Don't like it hot but what we are getting now is a pain.
