Hi Cassidy

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Unfortunately I do not know any of the family still living in Keynsham/Bristol.

When his mother died my grandad joined the Army and never returned there. I think he was in touch with his brother George. My grandad died in 1990.

Kind regards

Nicki

It was a Lilian Ethel Dyer who married a Samuel Oxenham and then remarried the Matcham I mentioned.
This Lilian was born in Fulham.

I've been looking at other information and just wondered if you knew of any of the family still living in the Bristo/Keynsham area

Cassidy

Perhaps he got confused with Edith's parents and their children?

Never heard of Rock Road - Why?

How did you manage to rule out the Matcham wedding?

Thanks

Do you know if Lilian and Edith married? Are you sure ?.I can't believe the 15 children part.It was illegal not to register your children and the authoritie's would have had something to say.
Maybe Thomas married again and then had more children with 2nd wife. From 1916 to the death of mother in 1931 there are no other children recorded.

You can also rule out the Matcham marriage.I've confirmed the Lilian E Dyer involved...no relation to you.

Do you or have you heard of Rock Road in Keynsham?.

Cassidy

Pretty sure the majority of the family stayed in Bristol (very dysfunctional family though!!).

My Uncle has just text me to say that there were 15 children!! and one called May!!

Thanks

Nicki.Happy you've got the info soughted.I can only speculate that there may have been a marriage between one of Thomas Dyer 1891 sister or family member to an Oxenham and maybe they took some of the youngest children into their family after the death of the mother.

Cassidy

Thank you so much, you have been an absolute star, I am so grateful for your help.

I now have the census info for Edith Stone and her family 1881,1891 & 1901.

Going back to Lilian Dyer/Oxenham/Matcham - would you know why she is referred to as Dyer or Oxenham, do you think there was a previous marriage or do you think it would only be referred to like that on adoption?

Thanks

Thanks Cassidy

Death in 1931 ties in with my Grandad and his brother joining the Army when their mother died.

How do I go about finding if there were any other births between 1926-1931?

I will have a look at the census of 1901 that you mention.

Sorry for the delay was cooking!

Doreen 6a 323,Q2,Bristol.

Edith Dyer [nee Stone] Death...1931,Bristol 6a 35,Q3.The only one that fit's.

Which mean's she was born in 1892.I think if you see the 1901 census her parent's name's are William and Lydia...large family residing at Cadbury Heath,Oldland,Thornbury.

There could possibly be more children that you are unaware of as you have the youngest as born 1926 and mother died 1931.
Regard's,

Nicki

Cassidy,

Wow! - Didnt know about Doreen!! Could you please let me have her details? - Can you find a marriage for her too?

Also, if poss, the death ref for Edith Dyer (Stone)?

Where it says - Matcham marrying either Dyer or Oxenham - do you think she was married to someone with the name Oxenham prior to Matcham?

Thanks

Nicki
