HI all

I have a bit of a mystery going, i have a william maslin marrying a elizabeth plank and them having a number of children however another GR member has all the children but a different wife she has an Eliza Redding where as i have Elizabeth Plank. Another Gr member has looked at marriages in london areas for William Maslin to an Eliza Redding and found nothing, william was born in 1842, all his children were born in rotherine, and london area's.
Is it poss for someone to look at the marriage index to see if a marriage between a william maslin and an elizabeth redding. The first child was born 1862 in bermondsey (jane). They were found on the 1881 cenus and wife is named as Eliza.
Although the Gr member with the different wife has a child born 1860 called elizabeth but i do not have this entry but all the rest match.

If you bought Janes birth certificate you would have her mothers maiden name for certain. Where did you get their possible marriage from? Have you got a birth cert of a child already? Do you or the other member have any certificates to back up either marriage? It may be he married twice.

Between 1855-1864 2 other Elizabeth Planks come up in East London, but again no groom with the right name.

i think i do have one of the others childrens birth cert and thats where i got the info from but they are in loft so thats first job tomorrow, however as the other gr member has this different wife/mum i couldnt understand it i have looked on freeBMD and no marriage comes up between a william maslin and a eliza redding at all. I have emailed a few members that also share this connection and am awaiting replies i also emailed the person with eliza in the tree asking if she has the marriage cert or seen the index but no reply as yet

the elizabeth plank i have married william maslin in devizes wiltshire this is def on the index, i checked this again this eve.
I will check the birth cert tomorrow and go from there as i cannot see any eliza redding marrying a william maslin

maslin surname originates in wiltshire - so i am told anyway lol

Oh sorry, I assumed you meant they had always lived in Bermondsey as you didnt mention Devon, oops, Wilts, before. Where were William and Elizabeth born then?

Just looking on ancestry and there are an awful lot of William Maslins.

I take it this is the right couple in 1891, both born in the area - are you sure the Devon marriage is the right one?
This guys age is out for your chap. Have we got two sets of people on the go here? You really need that birth cert to ensure you have the right people. Ditto the other person on GR

hi again this is now what i have many doubts about i had stopped researching the maslins as i had alot of info at the time now im unsure of it, i know i have some info certs in the loft, that looks like them on the census they had children as follows

i have got no idea it must be on the paperwork i have, i will have to dig it out as it looks like i have it wrong the papers were sent from another gr member whos connected through williams daughter susan same as me.

Looks like the one that Heather posted married Caroline Hale and not Elizabeth Plank. This is from BVRI:
