This thread is not about me offering to do loads of research for people.

If you put a thread on one of the boards and I feel I can help and I fancy doing it then I will add information to YOUR thread.

There is no point in asking me to look up your missing recent relations in private messages..........most of my own tree is medieval!

Now bear in mind folks that if people are not understanding THIS thread .........how much more confusing must we be finding some of the ones we see on here!!!

Sue in Somerset is fantastic!

BUT - if you're new to this like me - I find the threads confusing so please put your requests for help in the right place.

I was looking to find a Trickey relative. I used 'Trying to find' Put in Trickey under surname. Explained what I'd got, what I couldn't find and where I'd looked.

BINGO! Sue and Ruth had loads of suggestions - and the right answer to some of it within a couple of days - only I forgot to look back and see it

So, follow her advice and she might offer to help complete strangers - just like me.

Everso grateful!

Time for a reminder about how best to ask for help perhaps.

Can I also add a point about personal messages.

I am quite happy to help people. I enjoy finding out things - especially when I'm stuck on what I'm doing on my tree.

But PLEASE if I do offer info, advice, whatever - please do not send me a personal message with a bit more info or another question.

The name you use on these boards does not appear on your message so I don't know who you are. Plus, if I have replied to several people over the course of a few days I probably will not remember you - and I don't want to go hunting through my threads to see if I can find the original message.

Please post back to your original message .... I am getting to the stage where I do not respond at all to the personal messages and am beginning to wonder whether it's more trouble than it's worth actually trying to help people.

Beryl - if you want information you will have to start another thread - this one is not to request look ups on.
