Can anyone help me find which Daniel New would be mine please, I have both Daniels born 1792 parents Joseph New brn 1748 & Elizabeth Hide brn 1751, I have my Daniel marrying Lucy Wooten, but other's say he married Susannah Howard, Hope someone can help, Thank You

How do you know who his parents are,
How have you worked back to find Daniel New, did you work back using his children or siblings?

My Cousin found most of the info with Census forms,
I think she worked back via children..
A couple of other people have the Daniel Married to Susannah and apparently they got their info from Family Search..

You need to be able to confirm the children that you have to enable you to know for certain which Daniel is which, just going on the census records is guess work a lot of the time and you can end up with the wrong family.

The only way to be certain is to buy cert's and confirm names etc and then work backwards.

We have a couple of cert's, Daniel and Lucy's son John ( my great great grandfather ) I have his marriage plus death cert
Someone told me Family Search is only submiited records from other people would this be right??

Ok, so what what detail does it give you on John's marriage cert

What is the date of marriage
How old is John
What is his fathers occupation

You can't take family search as 100% accurate hence the need for cert's to verify any family members

But on the marriage cert what is John's occupation as well as Daniels

On Johns wedding cert it has Daniel as a draper..

Oh and the date of marriage was 28 march 1853 and age was " of age "
John was a policeman

Ok the 1851 census below has Daniel New's occupation as Draper and John is down as a Cooper - could they have meant Copper lol

As you have a rough idea of John's DOB if you send for his birth cert that will confirm his mothers name and then you know 100% which is which.
But I bet that your Daniel married Lucy

Just confirm John's wifes name as I can't see his occupation listed as Policeman

Not happy as later in the census John is still showing as a Cooper and what looks like Furnaceman...............But can't find a son John for Daniel New and Susan so it's still pointing towards Daniel and Lucy
