There are a some possible John Wood registrations in West Derby (which covers Kirkdale where the family were living in 1901) |

No Potty - just the birth certificate for James - might try that though |

1891 census was taken on 5 April 1891, so somebody born August 1889 would only have been 1 on census night. But 1901 is correct at 11. |

Another son by 1901 and now Mary is a charwoman. A lot of the neighbours have jobs to do with the docks or ships - maybe James went to sea. Also, there is a very big gap between James junr and the new son: |

If you James was born in October 1889, he would have only been 1 when the census was taken. |

Seems a lot of people are having problems with Ancestry at the moment but it's working fine for me. |

Just for general info - if you can't find an entry on freebmd, you won't find it in Ancestry's partial index as they get there info from freebmd and usually not as up to date. |

Found the Mary Davies on June Q 1887 - 8b 193. So it's not her. Also double-checked James Wood for the same quarter on Ancestry just in case there were two of him but just that original one - 8b 64. |

Well there's no obvious Mary Somethings with a number even vaguely like 64 so that's not much help. |

I've found something - looking on the actual indexes for 1887 June qtr there is a Mary Davies listed with vol 8b page 193 Liverpool - but she does not come up on a search of the transcribed entries on Ancestry. |

I've tried on FreeBMD putting in just the 1887 Jun Quarter and pulled up a list of all the people marrying that quarter. No Mary Davies though. |

checking on FreeBMD that year & qtr is 47% transcribed so seems its still in progress, if you dont want to buy the cert then the next update of Freebmd may get your info |
