He is listed as a CARMAN on his son's marriage cert of 9.07.1907 [Son's name EDWARD TAYLOR living 20, Charles Street, Woolwich] Is it at all possible someone has access to this? I am going around in circles trying to find the right WILLIAM TAYLOR and the right wife !!

The only way to find the correct wife is to buy the son's birth cert..........

Even if William was on the ER....which is doubtful.....his wife certainly wouldn't be. Women didn't have the vote in 1905

Angela35

Angela35 Report 23 May 2008 14:02

Thanks Reggie, forgot they didn't get the vote until much later on. Edward was aged 22 at time of his marriage, so I sent for birth cert based on 1883, Dad is William Taylor married to Margaret Brooks and he is a CARMAN but I have also found others that match up too ! There are loads of births for WOOLWICH, also Greenwich, Plumstead also which are in same area. Thats why I'm having difficulty in nailing down parents

Yup, I thought it was that one, not so sure now I found William married to Margaret as that William Taylor is a stationary engine driver, and EDWARD'S dad at least was a CARMAN, albeit in 1905. See why I can't connect with right one !

the two 1901 listed are the only ones for Woolwich with a father William so its a toss up between the two I think

BUt based on Edward marrying in sept qtr 1905 and aged 22 I think its unlikely to be the one with mother mary , He was already 19 in early 1901 when the census taken so come Septqtr 1905 he would be at least 23 pos even 24 if his birhday was before Sept qtr 1901
