trying to find any information on my grndad robert warren all i know is he lived in pitt street, norwich norfolk in the 1920s his wife was elisabeth norman. they had three children bertie,robert and rose.rose married into a greengrass family.robert never married and ran a fish and chip shop in norwich.bertie went into the navy,came to london where he married iris blake. any info appreciated.

This appears to be their marriage reference. Getting the certificate will give you both their fathers' names.

Several Robert Warren's born right area right time so its best to get the marriage certificate to confirm father. Then you can find the family on the 1901 census.

No other children found apart from those that L Lass found

bertie is my dad he was born 4th march 1920,so that sounds good.as he is 88 he cannot remember too much and the rest of his family are dead. PAM

You can order online

www.gro.gov.uk

certificates should only ever cost 7 pounds. You will need the quarter, year district, volume and index number given above

Does you dad remember his grandparents names? If so you can ask for a 1901 look up for Robert and his father.

Then I think marriage certificate of Robert and Elizabeth is the next step.

Also have you checked to see if anyone on site has matches in their tree? just put the names in the quick search box at the top of the page.

hope you dont mind me asking but do you do this as a hobby as im also trying to get info on my other grandparents. there is no one left to ask ,i should have started this when they were all alive. pam

Yes its a hobby, I've been doing it for five years. It can get expensive but you get lots of help from the other members on this site.

I still can't find the birth for Rose, any idea on a year of birth.

Just noticed your father took the name of his younger brother who died.

just been talking to my dad he said rose was born between him and robert.he also said he thinks his mum lost 1 or more babies. pam

hi selena ,just wanted to ask ,iv tried on line to get a marriage certificate but it wants to know the day they got married any idea how i find this out . sorry to bother you with this but you are the only one i can ask thanks pam
