hi all,
im trying to find the birth of Elizabeth Hibbert b 1827 in mossley,
she married Samuel Bradbury b1819 in Hyde i cant find his birth either what am i doing wrong!
any help would be appreciated.

you might find them on the IGI Family search.com, there are no certificates that early

Where did you get the birth dates from? Do you know their parents' names? Have you tried looking on the IGI which can be accessed at www.familysearch.org (select advanced search and then select International Genealogist Index from the list on the left. There are a lot of matches for your names in approx the correct places but most of them seem to be submitted by church members. From experience, these can be inaccurate and should always be treated with caution. You can also check which churches etc are covered by the site and the date periods using this site (this should be one long string but I'll have to split it so that it doesn't mess the page width)

sorry everyone been searching IGI for hours and have gone around in circles tied myself in knots and blown my mind.............. still no answer!!
the family grave is in gee cross Hyde, where most of the family were born and died.

I've checked the IGI batch numbers for Mossley and it only seems to cover births up to 1821 which would be too early for Elizabeth. Looks like a trip to the records office will be required. Where did you get the surname Hibbert from? Do you have the marriage cert for Samuel & Elizabeth?

For reference, this is the family on the 1861 census. There is a big gap in age between Jane and the other two children which would suggest that Samuel was married before or that Elizabeth had a child when she was very young (she would have had to have married as a minor for it to be in wedlock) who then took the surname Bradbury when Elizabeth married Samuel.

You have the right family Jane went to live i Canada,
but i am beggining to think that Samuel and Elizabeth were never married and all the children just took the name Bradbury, they had nine children and i know what happened to all of them but i cant trace a marriage anywhere!!!!

as i am new to this is it possible they never married?

The only way to be sure is to send for the marriage cert. - This should give you the name of both father's and their occupations - They can then be traced back from there with more certainty.

Just recieved marriage Cert for Samuel Bradbury and betty Hibbert, Fathers .. william bradbury collier
mark hibbert spinner.
Living Denton at marriage.
ages at marriage Samuel 23, Betty 22
in presence of William Harrop and ? shaw ( cant work out name).
Dont know what im doing wrong but i cant tie them in anywhere with the family im sure about, and the ages dont match
