Here is the link for the General Record Office website - you never pay more than seven pounds.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Following is the info that you need to order the certificate. You don't need the exact date, just the quarter, year, page and volume number - this is what Glitter gave you.

Marriages Jun 1907

FOSBROOK William Todmorden 9a 493
MULLINS Margaret Ann Todmorden 9a 493

It may take a week to 10 days to arrive.

So are you looking for William Fosbrook born 1883?

It might be helpful to get his marriage certificate which will give you his father's name. Then you can trace him on the 1901 and 1891.

Certificates can be ordered online from the GRO for seven pounds.

Hi Victoria,

Which bit of the information is strange? Is it because he is called Freddie.

Did Fred marry Hannah Pownall in 1919? If correct names then it would be worth getting the certificate.

The members are trying to get you the right information but if you have any doubts then please add them to the thread.

Maureen,

I hope Victoria comes back. It looks pretty likely that the information you have found is correct, and that Elizabeth was married 1st to John Fosbrook, and by 1891 had either married or was "co-habiting" with James Newell.
