Could someone please look and see if they can find on any census

Joseph Boon Born Cambridge 1815, parents Joseph Boon and Sarah nee Spink, I think Sarah may have remarried before 1851 and become a Craggs, as on the 1851 census she is down as a Widow and living with her Brother Robert Spink and family. in Cambridge, but no sign of Joseph. jnr.

Thanks in advance

Nicky

Where have you got the information from about Joseph's birth? I can't even see him on the IGI

Nickydownsouth

Nickydownsouth Report 28 Jul 2008 10:39

No hes not on the IGI, he`s in the Cambridge Baptisms 1801-1837 on the Cambridge FHS. He was born the year after his parents marriage, there is no other Boon children listed to a Joseph and Sarah Boon, and none of them appear in the burial records for the same period, so was hoping someone may be able to find him on a census.

I can't even see Sarah. If she was a widow in 1851, why might she have remarried before then?

Nickydownsouth Report 28 Jul 2008 10:47

Sarah is Sarah Craggs, in 1851, a widow living with brother Robert Spink and his family in Cambridge.
Am pretty sure the other Marriage to Joseph Boon is her as well, so she must have been widowed before marrying ? Craggs. Her brother Argents will written in 1853 leaves money to his sister Sarah Craggs..... which is where I got the name from.,

I can't see her in 41 under Boon, Cragg or Spink.

Where was Joseph baptised in 1815?
Where was Sarah married ?

Nickydownsouth

Nickydownsouth Report 28 Jul 2008 11:14

Sarah and Joseph married in 1814 at St. Giles Cambridge, it is on the IGi and in Pallots or Boyds {can`t remember which}

Joseph jnr. was baptised at St. Peters Cambridge in 1815, he was 3 weeks old, and his parents Joseph and Sarah were living in Northampton Street. Cambridge.

I have been looking at the NBI discs to see if there is a death, but I can't see one.

I assume this is sarah

Sarah Craggs
Year of Registration: 1860
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Cambridge (1837-1935)
County: Cambridgeshire
Volume: 3b
Page: 364

with a matching burial
19 Mar 1860 Sarah CRAGGS 67 Cambs Cambridge, St Clement

although the age is out so it may not be her, plus there is an S on the end of Craggs which she didn't have on the census

Hi Nicky,
Your Joseph is being very elusive !!!!
Regards Vera

Nickydownsouth

Nickydownsouth Report 28 Jul 2008 11:27

YesI`m pretty sure thats her, the age is exactly right she was born 1793, the baptism is on the IGI, parents Edmund and Sarah Spink.

Apparently if you look at the image in 1851 it does say Craggs, and her name on her brothers Will is definetley Craggs not Cragg.

Thanks Linda, but still no trace of the elusive
Joseph!

Edit....Snap Vera..."elusive" is the word I just used.
