Is this Margaret in 1891? Was there another son Charles (brother to Margaret)? |

It's funny you should mention if they had separated or divorced it had crossed my mind,i have even tried to look for her death(under Emma Brennan) from late 1895 -1911 and there's not one. |

Margaret married a George Beeson (but her surname was down as Breman.I know she was in England in 1895 because she was mentioned in her daughter's death inquest. |

Okay, here's another scenario...is it possible that Emma and John separated or divorced and she remarried? Hence, she's living with a new name and has the younger children. |

Hi Joan,I know that her son John(my 2x Gt.Grandfather) married in 1880 in Derby..Her other children were:-Harriett b.1860,Margaret b.1866,Edward b.1868 & Mary b.1876,all born in Derby |

I can't even find any marriages for Harriet, Margaret or Edward that fits the approximate timeframe. Is it possible that Emma took the other younger children and left England? |

Hi Joan, Yes that's the right one for her husband in 1891,yes she could have been visiting another child in this census on the 1891 census night which weren't on the index ,i hadn't thought of that ! but where is she on the 1881 ? as the John aged 32 on the 1891 census is her eldest surviving child,Not only can i not find Emma on the 1881 but any of her children apart from John |

Is this your John Brennan in 1891? It lists him as "married" not widowed. |

Joan, I think I found the same as you - unmarried on 1881 - which is true if they never married. |

Hi Selena,I have found John on the 1881 & 1891 censusbut not Emma ,Doubt that they got married in Ireland,Emma was born in Derby, and there's a strong possibility that John came over here during the potato famine. |

Wonder if the family went to Ireland during the 1881/91 census? Also maybe they married there? |
