Witness at the marriage was what looks like are....mary Gaunt/Gant/Gaut/Gaunt? Charles side i presume and on Charlotte Susan Stoner?

I have seen the Charles Goldspink, Pulham...which would suggest he was possibly married to a Croydon Girl...its rumored by my family that my Grt Nan (Charlotte) had an affair with a married man....which could possibly fall in place?? But just not sure..........on my grandad side its such a complicated situation.....my grandad birth was not registered until 1930, but was born in 1906??? Confused! x

Sorry, this is getting confusing. Can we get the known facts down. The 1906 birth with a 1930 registration - surely you are confusing two generations there??

Right so you say your father(is it the paternal side?) is the grandchild of Charles Goldspink and Charlotte Adcock who married in Croydon in 1924? Yes? When was dad born then? Are you sure that you arent confusing generations and dates?

When you say the 1924 marriage cert gives Charles year of birth making him 51 - are you certain of that? Marriage certs either give an age or put "of full age" - meaning over 21. Does the cert actually give his age as 51 or the year??

I really do get the feeling that there is a mix up in generations here. Can you write down - going back from your parents, the dates of birth and marriages so you can see if something doesnt look right.

Hi Heather,

Nope there is no confusion of two generations i'm afraid, My Grandad was born 1906, and his birth was not registered until 1930, which i have been told is not that uncommon for that to happen, however i dont know why this was the case??

We are not sure if Charles is the true father of my grandad, however i do know that he was not one of the sons from the Adcocks.

Charlotte was married to an Adcock, and had two children with him, but deserted her children, family story suggests this was due to the fact that she had an affair, hence where i think Charles comes into it....This part is confusing!!

The marriage cert, says his age was 51.

Sorry for the confusion.

Tina, Ive never known a registration to take 24 years - have you bought the certificate to see if there are comments as to why this happened?

So Charlotte had been married before when she married Charles Goldspink in 1924? How old was she then?

Could you write down for us, the generations and dates going backwards from your parent as the names/dates are confusing.

His cert does say registration 1930? I know very strange.....There is no explanation on the cert to suggest why he was registered so late......The cert, says where he was born, the mother,s details, Charlotte Brammer/Formerly Adcock, widowed to Charles Goldspink, no father details.....

George Adcock married Charlotte Bramma 1892 Croydon, they had two children, George Adcock 1894, and Harold Adcock, 1896. George Adcock (her husband) died 1899.

Charlotte Adcock(nee Bramma) married Charles Goldspink 1924

Charlotte was born in 1872 and died Charlotte Goldspink aged 59 in 1931 Mar

I understand that Charlotte was disowned by her family because she had an affair, she even left her boys behind with a sister, however we dont know which sister brought them up? She was even left things in her mums will, but never claimed them?

Its all such a mystery...hope the above helps, and thank you all for your help!

Sorry, must be me. Could you go backwards from your parent please.

As I see it from the above - if Charles had never been married before and as Charlotte was knocking 52 when she married - how can Charles have fathered the next generation with Charlotte?
