hi,thanks her maiden name is degnan she must have got married then called duncan i think she was born in 1936 in dewsbury,not sure only found out her real name on monday thats all i no,im 41 not seen her since i was a baby ....

I found her entry on the full register of Births Deaths and Marriages. I use Findmypast, a paying site and FreeBMD which is free but not useful after about 1920 at the moment.

You can buy her birth certificate but at the moment you are really trying to find her and not her parents.

Have you sent a message to the person who has Collette Degnan on their tree on this site Genes Reunited? They may know more.

I will look on the full register and see if I can find her marriage. Was she married when you were born?

Have found this marriage.

Colette Degnan married Malcolm Duncan OND quarter 1962 Spen Valley volume 2d page 746.
On cross checking Duncan to find his christian name says Malcolm Duncan married Degnan or Griffin, looks to me if she was married before?

You can find the full Births Deaths and Marriages on Ancestry and Findmypast. Both these sites are ones you pay for.

I have looked from 1952 to 1962 marriages and found no marriage to Griffin.

Have sent you a pm, but Colette had two brother who also appear to have passed on in 1988 and 1988.
Right just to confirm there is the marriage in Oct-Dec 1962 for a Colette not Collette (is this right ? in Spen Valley ) Degnan or Griffin to a Malcolm Duncan, Val has not been able to trace a marriage for a Charlotte Degnan to a Griffin however, from 1952- 1962.
You and your brother where born Cooper, but I can find no marriage for a Duncan to a Cooper till your Brothers birth in 1964.
One other thing I have found 4 Degnans living in Dewsbury still I am wondering if these could be your cousins.
May have to check under her previous names.
She was born a Degnan, but Val has not been able to find a marriage for her to a Griffin

If you follow the Griffin entry it state Colette Griffin married a Duncan with the same ref as you quoted.

The information that has been passed to you is taken from the national marriage register that lists all marriages. The entry in question states this.

Colette Degnan or Griffen married Malcolm Duncan in Oct-Dec 1962 at Spen Valley, reference :- Volume 2D Page 246.

So it would appear that Colette was either married to a Griffen before she married Malcolm, or there is a mixup in the register and it cannot be decided what her maiden names was,Degnan or Griffen.

Hope this makes it clearer for you.
