Please help me figure this out...
My grt grandmother Irene Violet Golledge, 1901 Newton Abbot married Alfred William or William Alfred Churchward in 1919. Her brother Percival Norman Golledge married Edith Florence Churchward in 1922. Yes that's right, Alfred William's sister. Now if you're not already confused this is where I get lost...

I am trying to find the parents of Edith Florence and Alfred William Churchward. I have the marriage cert for Edith and Percival which records William Churchward as Edith's father. I am awaiting Edith's birth cert to find out her mother's name. I don't believe there were any other children in this family... where do I go from here?

Thanks in advance
Audrey

This could be Alfreds birth

Births Sep 1897 (>99%)
Churchward Alfred William Newton A. 5b 133

So we should be able to find him on the 1901 census.

Thank you Lost for words
I believe they only had two children Edith Florence and Alfred William

Audrey

Audrey Report 17 Sep 2008 22:44

How can I be certain that I've got the right family thread?

Ericthered

Ericthered Report 17 Sep 2008 22:44

Unfortunately, although we've asked about William's occupation...........there's no guarantee that his occupation in 1922 was the same as in 1901...................

Ericthered

Ericthered Report 17 Sep 2008 22:46

You will have to wait for the birth cert.........

Audrey

Audrey Report 17 Sep 2008 22:47

I think I will just have to wait until Edith Florence's birth cert arrive and then I will no her mother's name and if it is Ellen then it must be the right family.

Great minds think alike.
It's just frustrating.

Hi Audrey

The birth cert should confirm parents names and perhaps give a more accurate occupation as the birth was only 6 months after the census was taken. This will hopefully confirm whether the above are the correct family. Could Caroline have died?
