Matt, I think I had posted the 1851 census where they were mistranscribed as Prime.
Oops, sorry, senior moment again. It was George & Elizabeth I posted.
No, can't find William or Elizabeth in 1851 or their children other than Samuel who was living with George & Elizabeth. They couldn't all have died, surely?

...and finally

Iike the wedding in in sep 1849 because i was begining to think the "wife " was called elizabeth ann and both were being used as a first name ...but still no children till 1863...tho i do have an early needle work sampler that reads (the picture is of adam and eve);
"on the almighty power;
the lofty concave of vast expanse
could never be the effect of giddy chance;
those beauteous and amazing globes of light.
no power could make, that was not infinite
But when he spake, each atom of this frame,
From the dark womb of empty nothing came"

prob E A Prince , 20 years trying to make children ..it al fits ..thanks .sorry a bit teary

Margaret and David

I ve gone thru your research and it s revealed the same problems that i m having , tho you got there in half an hour

So I have gone back slowly

I have my grandads 1923 marriage cert, which takes me to George Edwin Prince silk mill manager.

My grandads birth cert which gives me George Edwin Prince and Elizabeth (formerly Kenworthy) as parents.Nov 2 1894 of 1 parsonage st , halstead

Marriage cert of 25 aug 1886, parish church of prestbury , cheshire, of George Edwin Prince,23, to elizabeth Kenworthy,23, Fathers George Delves Prince, weaver and samuel Kenworthy , umbrella manufacturer (witness henrietta kenworthy)

then I have a death cert of George Prince (no middle name) 4 oct 1895 aged 66 yrs of 14 Bridge Street Macclesfield (district : sutton cheshire)witnessed by son george edwin prince of 1 mount pleasant villa, aprsonage st, halstead essex

Matthew you need a copy of George Delves marriage cert for his fathers info.

Interesting that you plump for the death in Halstead Essex rather than the Macclesfield one.

Matthew

Matthew Report 26 Sep 2008 23:36

okay I have a needlework sampler from my uncles house by Elizabeth Ann Prince dated 1852

but this item gives the wrong date of birth for my george edwin prince who I believe was born 27 nov 1863

i ll go find my documents

Your fab ! Sorry I m a novice to this posting idea and did nt know such fab experts were out there

I know my great grandfather was George Edwin Prince, b 27 nov 1863 + d. 11 jan 1947 + m. Elizabeth Kenworthy 26 aug 1886 (then m. Florence, no issue). D. at 99 chapel st leigh. M. at prestbury church chester 1886.

I know his father was George Delves Prince,at sons marriage described as "weaver"

That s the end of certain information.

I have never found any record that contained the middle name ( if i remember correctly) .So I believe he is GeorgePrince b. 1828 -29 + died 10 oct 1895 at 1 mount pleasant villa, aprsonage st, halstead essex + 1841 census park lane, macclesfield in the parish of prestbury church , silk piecer. Now did the census contain his middle name ? i ll look for the records....

Don't know about that marriage, David, seems they were already married in 1851. (Curious no children until 1863.)

Margaret

Just looked at the 1881 extract and it does match what the familysearch transcription said.

Wonder if it's mixed up and Samuel and Ann were a couple and George was with his son George E. Perhaps Samuel was George seniors brother.
