Linda,
I don't know how to say thank you enough!
I really appreciate what you have done and set me on the way - fantastic.
I will get the certificate and go from there.
Incidentally, I have a feeling that Mary jane is missing from 1901 census because she may have already been married! The reason I say that is my Great grandad (the one I started trying to find in the first place - William Williams) had at least one child - my grandfather Walter Glyn in 1903 and I don't think he was the eldest.
Thanks Again
bob

I will keep on the look out for the Williams family when I am looking for mine...needles haystacks come to mind lol

However I think the only way to go now is to order the marriage cert of William Williams and Mary Jane Davies.

You can order online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ it will cost £7.

Linda - I think its brill that you haven't given up on mine yet!!!
That census is close to what I do have, but not the same. The entire details I have for Mary jane is that her parents were called John and Miriam, and MJ had siblings called Robert, Martha, Emma, Ellis and Elizabeth. And thats the full extent of my limited scope on that side so far!

Perhaps someone can look for a death for Walter.

Any idea where he would have died?

Battenburg Report 17 Oct 2008 21:18

If you get your grandfather Walter Williams birth cert it will have place of birth and his fathers name and occupation.

You can then look for his father in 1901.

If your grandfather Walter died after 1969 it will have his date of birth on the reg ref.

Hi Linda,
followed your lead on the google, he may have been registered under pentasaph which is the local parish St Clare is in?
the latest link you posted I am fairly sure is not mine, as my dad is adament that his name was only William Williams (apparently he was so fed up with how many there were at the time he went by the name of 'Tudor' just too be different!).
I do really appreciate your help and effort - hadn't realised that some people 'out there' would be so productive on other people behalf, can't praise yu enough.
gratefully

Hi Robert...

That is the marriage that I added to this thread.

St Claire's being an establishment makes sense...there was a St Clare's Convent in Holywell and in it's day was an orphanage.
