birth certificate for John ordered as suggested by Nickydownsouth arrived today.

Births Dec 1841
Denford John Chelsea 3 41

Confirms it is the brother of George. And confirms mother's maiden name as 'SEAWELL'.

Seems odd that they cannot be found on a census together .......................

Any one prepared to have another look?

Thanks

Thanks mgnv

Appreciate your help.

I did realise that - I posted it so that it could be seen that it had been mistransribed. Sorry for not making that clearer.

Thanks again.

Nicki - your 1871 transcription doesn't match the image:

Densford looks more like Denford - there are 5 other households at this address involving 2,3,2,2,1 other people

Another piece of the puzzle solved thanks to LFW & Barry. Cannot thank you both enough.

Marriage 30 March 1834

George Denford to Maria Seywell

Nicki

Nicki Report 28 Oct 2008 21:06

Barry has just emailed me the following -

Maria Denford death 1878 age 70
Death registered at:
Marylebone Vol 1a Page 407

So, it looks like Maria did not marry Mr Wainright ....

Nudged, to see if anyone can add anything else that may provide some answers to this frustrating search.

Really appreciate it.

Nicky thanks for trying to find John on the census. Very odd that Maria & John Wainwright have also vanished.

I tried to find John on a census yesterday without sucess......... also tried for William but no luck with him either after 1841.....the only one I could find all the way through was George jnr, and unfortunatly he dosn`t ever have his parents or siblings with him on census night. I couldn`t find Maria and John Wainwright after 1851 either.

Could this be another child born to George and Maria? it may be worth ordering the birth cert. using George for father as a ref. check.....If he is their son at least you`ll get Marias maiden name.

Please could someone try to help me - I am doing a family tree as an 80th birthday present for my father in law - I have three weeks left to sort out the loose ends.

However I still cannot find Maria & George or any further children on 1851 as findmypast does not have that census. Also I cannot even find them on the 1861 either.

Anyone able to have a further look for me please. Looks like it is going to be some sort of mistranscription puzzle!!

Thanks

I think they must have been mistranscribed - having trouble spotting anything like them in 1851 and 1861 ...

Not sure if this will help. It looks like Deniord on the image as well so if it is an error it's an early error and not a later mistranscription onto FreeBMD:

Potty Report 26 Oct 2008 14:41

Sorry, Nicki, I can't find them at all after 1841, except for William who seems to have moved to Grimsby and become a fisherman and appears twice on the 1871 - once on a fishing boat, the Columbia, on Dogger Bank; and again at home in Grimsby with his wife!

Not much help find his MMN though.
