SylviaInCanada Report 30 Oct 2008 20:42

we were there in June

..... went to look at the old house (from the outside), which was not sold out of the family until the early 1950s, so husband remembers it well. It was called Ellahow.

We stayed in the Blue Bell Hotel .... and then went gravestone hunting in Preston Patrick church. Do you know there?

Hi Sylvia, Warton is pobably about twenty miles by road from Cartmel, Flookburgh, but Flookburgh is on the bay and a fishing village and Arnside, Silverdale are a short distance across the bay, back in those days they walked across the bay to morecambe Silverdale etc

from the International Genealogical Index on www.familysearch.org ....... the Mormon site. There are a number of Bouskill records on there but most of them seem to be SUBMITTED records, sent in by church members .... with no backup documentation.

This however, is an EXTRACTED record taken from the actual parish record

Angela

it's possible!!

The 1841 does not give relationships between people living in the same house, nor do they say the marital status ..... so it's a matter of guesswork.

My best guess would be that Esther is the mother of Robert age 45 (fisherman), and that John and Thomas are her grandsons ....... but are they the sons of Robert?

Hi Sylvia...could i ask if the Thomas Bouskill age 8 was esters Grandson as on the lan-opc there is a Thomas born 1832 to a Elizabeth Bouskill (unmarried i believe)

Angela

Angela Report 30 Oct 2008 19:54

Hi Sylvia, many thanks...sorry about Esters birth being 100 years out....
Tiavardale is somewhere i have never heard of...at first i wonder if it was a bad mistranscript of Silverdale which isn't far away from Flookburgh over the bay if he was a fisherman
