This could be Florence's death entry - given that her sons were registered in Edmonton district. Did she have a middle name that you know of?

Name: Florence M White
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1884
Year of Registration: 1915
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 31
District: Edmonton
County: Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex

Jean, im sorry i have no idea of Arthurs dob, i can only hazard a guess based on my grandfather Lewis' dob. Arthurs 2nd child Lewis was born 1910, so i was kind of presuming Arthur to have been born around 1885-1890.
The family lived North London, again i can only presume that was where Arthur was born as well.
Julie, i have been unable to trace the marriage record
Athena im sorry i dont know of any middle name for Florence.

Sharon you have 2 threads going for similar info so it's getting a bit confused. Perhaps you could combine them?

This is the info from other thread:-

Florence married Arthur White and lived in the North London area, had 4 boys, nobby, Lewis born 1910, and twins Jack and Harry born 1912

Sharon I have found the births of the children but not 'Nobby' is this a nickname? Just trying to narrow down when they could have married.
Still can't find any marriage for White and Mills

Hi.
There's a Florence Emily A born at Camberwell in June 1890. Florence E White died at Camberwell age 24 in Dec 1914.
Lewis White born June qtr 1910 at Camberwell.
Jack E White and Harry W White 1912 to Mother Mills at Edmonton.
Nobby?? Is that his proper name or nickname??
Could these be yours?

Belle
Im sure that Nobby must have been a nickname, unfortunately my mum only recalls her father speaking of his brother Nobby, i have been trying to work out what Nobby may be an abbreviation of, Norman maybe?
Eventually i hope to get to a point where i can trace the institution where my grandfather was placed with his brother, for my mum, but Nobby as a name isnt much help is it.

I have seen that register for lewis/Camberwell myself, but thats not my grandad, my aunt has a copy of the birth cert and his gives him as being born Broad Lane Tottenham 1910,im sure the Jack and Harry is correct as the family were living in Edmonton.
Nobby is ef some sort nickname or abbreviation, not much help i know, but thats all my mum remembers of him.

RutlandBelle Report 31 Oct 2008 14:53

I have just 'googled' for Nobby and unfortunately it was a nickname for lots of different first names but one thing in common they all nearly have the same surname of Clarke. It wa particularly commonly used in the army, as anyone with a surname White was called ' Chalky' so anyone called Clarke was nicknamed Nobby

This is a bit of a long-shot re the marriage..

There is an entry for a Florence Mills - Edmonton - 1910 - Mar qtr - 3a 640

There is also (by coincidence?) an Arthur White - Edmonton - 1910 - Jun qtr - 3a 734.

Could they have somehow been entered onto wrong quarters/pages?

On Ancestry, when you search on the above entry for Arthur White and click to see others on page, it is missing a corresponding female - two males but only one female listed.

I had this happen with some 3xGrt grandparents marriage where they were not shown on the same page but i ordered the cert out of curiosity and it turned out to be them!

Sharon

Sharon Report 31 Oct 2008 15:26

Do u think that could be my Nobby?

♥Athena

♥Athena Report 31 Oct 2008 15:37

There are tons of male births with surname White born in Edmonton in those few years prior to 1910 - could be any one of them really as Nobby was just a nickname not based on any particular forename.

A good place to start would be with births of any child named Arthur - after the father, as we all know how they liked to pass either their name or their fathers name on to their first born son.

So, with that in mind, I had a look and came up with these:

Name: Arthur Ernest White
Year of Registration: 1909
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Edmonton
County: Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex
Volume: 3a
Page: 600 (

Name: Arthur Henry White
Year of Registration: 1908
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Edmonton
County: Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex
Volume: 3a
Page: 548 (

Name: Arthur John White
Year of Registration: 1907
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Edmonton
County: Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex
Volume: 3a
Page: 564 (

As you can see - there's a few to choose from and there's no guarantees that either of them is your Nobby.

I will check the 1891 census (assuming the 1901 is correct and he was the only Arthur in Edmonton so I am hoping it's him) and see if I can find your Arthur's father's name and see if that helps at all...
