I think the birth registration for Frank is the correct one as the Orsett registration district covers all the places in Essex mentioned as his birthplace.

i dont know. it is all so confusing and even now, i'm not convinced the info i have is correct. because my cousin is in canada, i havent got the stuff in front of me to read it for myself. i know that the people who took the census often made errors but i wish they didnt!!!!

I did'nt know there was a Frank but have looked at this census now. Frank is a Harness Maker. Mucking is quite near Tilbury and Stanford Le Hope. I wonder why they went to Essex where Harriet had Frank?? Interesting. They are back in Devon on the 1901.

ok, just spoken to my cousin on msn. a few crossed wires here between her and me. this is it: george and harriet were born and married in exeter june `1871. according to the 1891 census, a couple of their children (one one of whom is frank langdon who was my cousins grand father) were born in tilbury essex and the rest born in colebrook devon. because we couldnt find franks birth cert (because of the tilbury connection) we were looking for his fathers information and trying to match it up to frank . all that said, we still cant find a birth for frank in tilbury as stated on the 1891 census

my cousin said she had got it from another record, possibly a census. i will email her later, she will be at work in vancouver right now, and ask her where she got it from. i think she and i have been searching for the wrong place entirely. will put it back on here when i hear from her. thanks to all involved in this. you're amazing.xxx

Harriet Greet is at her sister house. Isabella is married but Harriet is unmarried and a visitor.
The 1871 census for England was taken on the night of 2 April 1871. The marriage of Harriet and George was in April May June quarter so we know she was'nt married on the 2nd April.

I think the family of Langdon's with William as a Solicitor is a differents family to the one you are looking for.

If you buy the marriage cert of George Landon and Harriett Greet that will have their fathers names and occupations on it. I can't seem to find the family with the father. The family I found on IGI is the family you need with siblings to George of Ann, Eliza and William.

If you buy the birth cert. of George Langdon that I posted that will tell you his mothers maiden name then we can go on from there. Forget about the Tedbury or Tilbury and Essex or Middlesex as this is not the family we want.

I would say the marriage posted earlier is the right one for this couple as their first child was born 1873 and the marriage is 1871.

Got it and it does look like Tilbury or Telbury but the enumerator seems to have been very muddled as George was first put down as Dau of the above family!!!

Harriet Langdon 50 I think this reads 30 not 50 because she has a child of 1 year old. She is transcribed as born St Pancras Devon but the census does say London.
