Everything i've found on the surname Haskamp...

All the results on IGI (international Genealogical Index) on familysearch.org.uk come back as Hasenkamp... it's not unusual for names to change spelling between countries. (my nan is Holtappels from Dortmund.. nowadays, there are no Holtappels but Holtappfels Holtaffel etc... also, all Hasenkamps seem to come from North Rhine-Westphalia and Rheinland (they're states/counties)

No problem Cathy.. it our hobby!

If i were you, i'd order a copy of James' parents marriage certificate.

It will confirm what Sam has found for you. (although everything adds up so i'd say it's all right)

They are ordered online at www.gro.gov.uk and cost £7. You need to enter some details from the index

Haskamp Elizabeth Moran W. Derby 8b 787
Moran James Haskamp W. Derby 8b 787

Derby is the district, 8b is the volume number and 787 is the page. If you get stuck just come back and we'll help you

Births Dec 1890
Haskamp Elizabeth Liverpool 8b 44

Maybe James senior was a little older then?

Samspade

Freebmd is a good place to start when looking for bmd's.

Samspade

Samspade Report 12 Nov 2008 16:23

I'm guessing James' dad James was about 20 when he married Elizabeth which would make his year of birth 1896/97
there is this one

Births Jun 1897
Moran James W. Derby 8b 619

But I would order the marriage certificate first to get his father's name and occupation.
