Could only find twoo George Osborne, Doncaster between 1900 and 1920:-

Marriages Sep 1900 (>99%)
OSBORN George Doncaster 9c 1213
North Mary Doncaster 9c 1213

Marriages Jun 1918 (>99%)
Osborne George (Baxter) Doncaster 9c 1562
Baxter Emily A (Osborne) Doncaster 9c 1562

none with name Ashley?

When was George born?

Just noticed the name you gave was E Ashley, could it be that Ashley was her middle name?
If so, then the 1918 record could very well be the one you are looking for as Name is Emily (A.)

Births Mar 1914 (>99%)
Osborne John E Ashlley Doncaster 9c 1805

The birth certificate will give you his mothers full name and maiden name so you can check spelling.

Catherine Report 19 Nov 2008 22:12

Worksop marriage was for a John Osborne so may be another.
You may have to buy both birth certs. to check.

Catherine Report 19 Nov 2008 22:16

Just checked and Worksop is classed as West Yorkshire although it spans the boundries of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire too.

I've checked 1901 census and can't find any Osbornes, of any name or any age or sex, living in Doncaster, so ?????????????????
