Find Ancestors

i have the marriage cert of my uncles parents who were james thomas bradbury and florence mabel benbow, but the benbow branch is a mystery.

on the cert they married 4th sept 1926 at st pauls church croxton staffs, florence uses her middle name and her age is 22 and is living in croxton at the time of marriage, it gives her fathers name as john benbow and his occupation as bricklayer,

i know that florence died 2nd march 1938 and on her gravestone it says aged 32years and her husband registered the death.

i have searched around these years because of the descrepancy of age and cant find a reference.

with only her fathers name to go on how can i find out more about her family?

any help appreciated

do you think he used HIS middle name

hi rebbeca i can't find a florence mabel anywherein births but there is a mabel benbow born 1900 june quatr at hyde cheshire. could this be her and to add
the farmer (noah) that john worked for came from cheshire coincidence or !!

The nearest I can get with a birth reg is the following:

1911 A-J Benbow, Florence M Wolverhampton 6b 548 but this would have made her 15 at the time of marriage going off the marriage cert!

looks like no one used their first names lol

I would say the death age of 32 may be right as you had to be 21 or over to marry without your parent's/guardian's consent.

can anyone think of a way i can find out which family is the correct one, without spending too much money?

Rebecca you need the connection which is Florence OR you could try the STONE PARISH BOOKS for a baptism using the father's name of John Benbow.

You only have a few years to check 1904/06

this may sound like a silly question but where would i be able to access STONE PARISH BOOKS?

Either the vicar at Stone church as them OR they are in the Staffordshire Archives.

yes her death cert is in the name of florence mabel bradbury, but her marriage cert says mabel benbow marriage to james thomas bradbury.
