Following on again,from Andy's info;

John's brother,Thomas is in the 1881 census @ District Port of Hull Societys Sailors Orphan home,as a Scholar.

Cassidy Report 3 Dec 2008 22:41

In the Family that Andy has mentioned,Johns' sister,Edith is not in the 1881 census under her maiden name....so I have a possible marriage for her in Q1 of 1881;

Leonard Hill [born c 1857,Hull]and Edith Alice Hornby.

In the census taken for 1881,they are residing @ 74,Alicia Street,Sulcoates,Yorkshire.

Hey sean..i have his birth certificate as i told you..and his mother is Hornby........Cassiday was probablr right about the mistranscription..but I'm still not entirely happy that the entry also shows John W.
We know without doubt that he was John Albert..
It seems too much of a co-incidence that Hornley might be Elizabeth's maiden name....
My feeling is to go with the facts as you now know them.and ignore Hornley......

Just one last thing people....
I was just going back to try and get some further info... And, am confused. The reason. Well, I have John's fathers name as... John. Ok, no prob. But, am unclear as to mothers maiden name. Now, I'm not sure if its a typo, or, if it's genuine, but, it kind of makes out that Elizabeth, (mother's) maiden name was poss "Hornley"?!?!?! Is this a weirrrddd coinicidence, or, do you think its a mistake on the system. I'm prob not making myslef very clear, so apologies, but any advice, would again, as per usual be much appreciated, (even if it's "give up!") :)
