Hi Gemma,
I am looking for a John Osborne (my dads twin brother) born 1927 27th August. Have you come across him on any of your searches ?
My dad lost contact with him in 1939 during ww2. He is a tree owner on genes reunited, but have not been able to make contact with him.

Any ideas

Regards Debra

Hi Everyone.

John Osborne is still missing. :( I've spent so many hours on him now I'm starting to wonder if he really existed prior to 1891. ha ha.

I have the marriage certificate from 1890
the 1891 census
the 1901 census
and his death certificate.

Could anybody please try to find him on an earlier census for me. All those that I seem to think are likely I can also find in 91 and 01.

I really appreciate it. xxx

Hello there,
I also have osborne's in my family from wolverhampton, there are several ways its been spelt, most common other one is minus the "E" I found a very good site, it covers a lot of wolverhampton, all I did was type in Wolverhampton Archives, it takes a while to find the right pages, but its all free information, I.E. Births , Marriages & Deaths with dates etc of wolverhampton people, also www.canalmuseum.org is good.

Its not the Walsall one. :(

But I have just spotted an anomily (sp) the 1871 census says John F Osborne born 1864 in Kings Bromley to Thomas and Isabell. I think this must be FRED osborne (no john in sight) born lichfield 1863? Just trying to follow him now...although his parents were married in 1861 before he was born so if it is him then why would he not be down on the marriage. HMMMMM. I wish my families were easier. This line all seem to be illegitimate so far. :( xx

The only Wood End in Wolverhampton is Wednesfield. The only John Osborne born Wolverhampton is John Thomas Osborne. Its not him as I have followed him through to 1901. Sorry if It sounds a little confused.

I cant find John on the 1871 or 1881 censuses and there is no John Osborne born that matches the info that isn't discountable.

Mary price born 1867 in Blym Hill, Newport Shiffnal, Staffordshire. Parents Mary Smith and George Price. Siblings Ernest and Maria (Who was bought up by auntie Emma Smith who married James Hill)

Mary and Johns children, Ada born 1890, Ernest, Robert, Charles and Jessie all registered Newport Shiffnal (sometimes Newport, Newport S or Shiffnal, they are pretty much interchangeable)

Some of the censuses have them at Gnosall Staffordshire.

Does that help? xx
