Hi, I am trying to chase my fathers family tree, and his family all dies when he was young, now he has died, my sister and I would like to find them. His father's name was William Alister Clark, and he married Amy marion Oke, possibly in Kynton. We believe Alister was a plumber, but are not sure, and they lived in Tatura, before Amy's death in about 1945. My Dad was about 6 at the time.

My dad (Alister Noel Clark) then went and lived with a childless Aunt and Uncle, in Kyneton. He also had a sister, who was about 5 and died in the car accident which killed his Mother.

If anybody could help me, I am completely unsure how to find anything more.

Thanks
Cathie

sorry, I also know that Amy's sister was Olive Oke. My Dad was born on 14/02/1939, and I know his father died when he was about 18, but know very little about it. Apparently my Grandfather was an alcoholic, and died from liver cancer.

He was related to the Alister Clark of the rose, and stakes day fame, I believe Alister was a Great Uncle. He owned Glenara, in Bulla, and the family all lived in those basic areas. Bulla, Kyneton, etc. My dad also had family in Elwood, who he used to visit during school holidays.

Hope this helps further, and I appreciate everybody taking time to try and help me.

Cathie again

Lewella, thanks for that, so much, any chance you know how to find what my Aunts name was, my dad could never remember, and he didn't even know where they are buried.

Here is Amy in the 1936 Vic electoral roll,

Name: Amy Marion Clark
Gender: Female
Electoral Year: 1936
State: Victoria
District: Echuca
Subdistrict: Tatura

William Alister is there, as a plumber, also a Clare Elizabeth and Rodger, Labourer and William, Dealer. The record just shows Tatura for all of them so may not be the same family. Regards Linda :)

you are so very kind, helping out a newby. I thank you very much, I meant my Aunt, my Dad's sister, she was 5 when she died, and I don't even know her name.

Thanks again, I appreciate everything. I suspect my Aunt was born in about 1940 maybe 1941

There is no death registered in Victoria between 1921 and 1985 for a daughter of Andrew Clark/Amy Oke

Cathie

Hi, I realised that you meant william etc, but again nothing showing up until 1950 for a female death. Regards Linda

Hi Hoping, I am very confused, could you please give me the detail of the death in 1950?

Thanks

Cathie

Linda Report 19 Jan 2009 06:09

Hi Cathie, you are getting confused. What I said was, that there is NO record of a death up to 1950 for a female named Clark. That's not too say it didn't happen, just not registered in Victoria. Regards Linda :)

I've check the indexes up to 1985 in Victoria and there is no death for any little Clark girl. I even tried different spellings, etc. I'm wondering if she really did die or whether the father couldn't cope when the mother died and she was put up for adoption.

Cathie

Cathie Report 20 Jan 2009 20:24

Lewella, that is my concern.

Thanks for trying. My Dad was adopted by his Aunt, "Evelyn" and the story given to him was the sister had died in accident.

He had felt guilt almost all of his life for surviving, and to find this out now, is devastating, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I thank you for all of your assistance.

How would I find a record of her birth, to prove she even existed?

Thanks again all.

Have you purchased the mother's death certificate? Her children (whether alive or not) should be listed on it

HI Lewella,

Clearly I am new at this, I wasn't aware I could purchase it.

Can I do that online, or do I need to wait and go into the office.

Regards
