Hi there

I am trying to find Yvonne Elizabeth Orr
DOB 5th April 1940
St Andrews Hospital
Registration District Poplar
Sub District Bow & Bromely

Mothers name Charlotte Elizabeth Ragon (1917 - 1947)
Fathers name Leonard Greenwood Orr (1912 - 1995)

Would really love to find her and reunite her with her other 4 sibblings, my mother being one of them.
I have no other information on her - only what is on her birth certificate.

Kind Regards
Justine(NZ)

Dear Justine

Have just looked at the birth details for Yvonne and it says mother's maden name was Regon. Yvonne was registered in Poplar in June quarter 1940. Was the birthe ertificate marked 'adopted'?

Justine Report 8 Feb 2009 06:15

Hi Joan
There is no mention of adoption on the birth certificate at all
The name has various ways of being spelt - Ragon, Regan etc -
makes it more difficult to find anyone

Have you searched for a marriage for Yvonne?

Justine

Justine Report 8 Feb 2009 06:42

Hi joan
Yes i have searched through marriages - there is nothing for her.
Which could mean she has taken on another name?

Unfortunately my grandfather has taken all he knows to his grave,
and it has been very frustrating trying to find her.

If only i had a name - i just dont know where to go from here, i feel i have tried everything.

Just going to add a bit of back ground
After the Death of Charlotte - (mother)
Leonard brought four of the five children to New Zealand, via boat (1949), My mother being one of them.
I have seen passenger lists and Yvonne was not included.
She was left behind for reasons unknown, with whom we do not know.
My Grandfather (Leonard) did say she was left with a family friend, and that is all he would tell us - whether that being true we do not know - as he didnt tell the family anything else.
So you can understand my frustration in not being able to find her - and they are not getting any younger - if she is still alive that is?

Please help
Kind regards
Justine

Her Four siblbings are still alive - Two in Australia and Two in New Zealand.

Hi Justine
a thought have you managed to trace Estella I presume Charlottes sister to ask if they know anything or family of your grandad or witness of grandma and grandads wedding, this is how we found my husbands sister.

Justine

Justine Report 9 Feb 2009 08:41

As my story goes on -
Estella died in 1950 - cannot find either of her husbands or her daughter carol.
The closest i ever got to Estella was she had a son who was adopted by people who migrated to NZ also - sadly he died in the 1990's of an accident. He never realized he was adopted until a couple of years prior.

Charlotte has three surviving sibblings - they did not realize Yvonne was left behind, they knew Leonard had gone to New Zealand with the children, but that is it.

As for witness on marriage certificate - i have tried, but nothing also.

I am beginning to think that maybe it just isnt meant to be.
That some things are best left alone - and this could be one of those things.

UNQUOTE

It would not show ADOPTED if it is the ORIGINAL one issued to register
Yvonne's birth.

Any adoption data would be shown in ones purchased LATER

do you know TJ WEST who posted the above post?

ALSO ASKING RE YVONNE

Justine

Justine Report 13 Feb 2009 07:23

Hi there
yes i know the TJ West - they are helping to locate her also

Thank you for the passenger list - will look into that on further, could be a possibility.

We obtained a copy of her birth certificate in the 1980's
I read somewhere that if a person is adopted there original birth certificate is closed and can only obtain a birth certificate with adoptive name etc on - with no record of real birht name on it. Is this correct?
If so then we have obtained her birth certificate with her real birth details so there fore she was not adopted?
the birth certificate i have has no mention of adoption on it, which i was told would have adopted on it if she was?
I little confused by this

Justine

Justine Report 13 Feb 2009 07:26

Hi Victoria
Just a question about Yvonne aboard the ship to south africa

How do you know she was alone? Or was she with another family but with a different name?

Justine

FAIRTHORN Report 13 Feb 2009 07:33

You are correct if you have purchased a LATER birth certificate & there is no mention in the right hand side re ADOPTED
So she was not adopted so you can look for her under her birth name.

No the original birth is not closed
it just means there is a reference number added on the original birth details that links it to the adopted one BUT we do not have access to these details.

This is why most adopted persons have to go to their adoption files to get their birth names.
