HELP PLEASE!!!
can anyone help, I am trying to find info on my Grandfather thomas owen. He married sarah ellen crank in 1893 and my grandmother was born in jun 1900 and he was recorded as deceased this is recorded in wrrington
I found a death in 1900 of a thomas owen aged 30 in warrington, so I resume this is him.
on the marriage certificate it has him as a labourer at the brick works and his father name is john and his occupation is hard to read but I think it says farmer.
I thought I found him in the census
Birth: 27 Mar 1870 - Alderley, Cheshire, England
Parents: John Owen, Jane Emma Hulme
But then after all that it shows
Death: 17 Mar 1907 - Nether Alderley, Cheshire, England

Any help would be gratefully appriciated.

Warrington was Lancashire...............not Cheshire.

In some cases warrington came under Lancashire and then cheshire. not sure when it changed.

The solution would be to obtain the death cert............find out who registered the death..........and the occupation of the deceased.

1974 was when the change came into force.

The problem with obtaining the death certificate is that it does not show where they were born.
I just got one for my grandfather John edward jones in warrington and with out help from people on this site, I would not have got any futher.

You are spot on Wendy.........and of course, his marriage and death are between censuses; very inconsiderate of him!!

So...........he was married in 1893........what was the date of the marriage, and how old did he say he was? Who were the witnesses?

BTW.the info you posted about the chap in Cheshire......was it from the IGI? If so, it was a submitted record...not taken from Parish registers.

There is, however, a marriage for the named parents..on Lancsbmd

Thanks for getting back to me.
Marraige took place 30/1/1893 in the parish church fo warrington and thomas was 24.
I also though it was john and jane who was his father and have research quite a way back. but then someone emailed me and told me that the thomas in that tree died in 1905 which meant he could not be mine
