The numbers in a road might change if there was redevelopment to neighbouring roads. Possibly losing a few houses at one end of the street due to road widening or something might have caused the numbering to be amended.

hi, sorry the addresses are for the time of my fathers birth which was 1910 although i wouldn't think they would have been in new housing

There doesn't seem to be numbers 61 or 49 winchester street in 1901

hi thankyou, i think the orlando john 2/2/1910 of islington is the correct one. my father was always known as jack / john. on his birth certificate he is down as being born at 61 winchester street but his mother kate nee freeland is down as 49 winchester street islington.if anyone knows how i can find out about these two address and who lived there in 1901 and 1911 please let me know

Post the address on here becasue if there is a way I am sure somebody on the boards will have the know how. We have valuation rolls in Scotland that show who it was that owned properties and who they were let out to so maybe there will be something similar for the area you are looking at

hi, i have had a quick look at 1911 cencus only putting o. cooper in but it keeps saying not found. i am confused as the entry i have for olando is b.1896 residing in rochford essex my orlando for whom everything fits was born in winchester st islington. i know people do move around but my understanding was my father lived in islington all his young life. is there any way i can find who lived in the house he was born in

I did a quick search on 1911 census for Orlando Cooper born 1910 and nothing came up so the record I gave you earlier may well have been mistrancribed as your dad should show up on it being born a year earlier

I think the only way to find that out would be to buy the cert as I tried putting both female names in the search and they both come up but I think thats because they have the same GRO

If your dad was born in 1910 he shoud have been on 1911 census so maybe that is an error that has occured when it has been transcribed it may be worth paying to view the original image

Not sure where you order certs from in England but I have read on the boards that if you order the wrong one they do contact you if the parents names do not match but without the certs you cannot be certain that they are the right births

hi, i am not really up on the southern districts as i left there abot 50 years ago. I believe though that Holborn is in the same area

found this death but it is in a different district to all other registrations and I am not familiar with districts down south
