K Report 18 Apr 2009 18:22

If there are too many names you can re search using one of the more unusual names from the first search as the other person in the household ie Madeline

Just checked it and that works

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 18:17

Oh right...thanks for the tips though. You learn something new every day! Its ok saying you can search for free but if you dont know how then your stumped and ask for help. Its very kind of everyone to help and get me on the road with this family.

Once again Thanks All

K Report 18 Apr 2009 18:14

I should have said as you did that if you come up with too many names then there will be more than one family and it gets more difficult

Marcelle

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 18:11

Thanks Liz & K

I have given it a go but I got other Rich's in the household. Does this mean that these are relatives or different houses? It has more pople than Richochet got
Thanks for helping

Hi Marcelle, I'm no expert but I've found if you put the person's name and year of birth and residential place down in the boxes then click on search, it will bring up a list of households. If there is someone who matches your criteria then well and good.
Click on Search Again and now take away the first name and year of birth from the personal details, just leaving the Last name. Keep the Residential Place and in the Other Members of the Household put the person whom you have already found in the First and Last name boxes. In your case, Emma Rich. Then click on Search and you should have all households in that area with an Emma Rich in them.
Obviously the more obscure a name, the better. It doesn't work for common names as you will end up with too many households with that name in them
Hope this helps a bit.

Liz

Sorry K. I see you were quicker than me! Not too difficult lol!

hi k thank you very much will try mine lorraine

K

K Report 18 Apr 2009 17:53

Look for Emma Rich first in Long Ashton. Then having confirmed she is in the right area do an advanced search with Rich as the surname - Long Ashton as the District and put Emma Rich in the box at the bottom for other people at the address.

It works best for villages or more unsual names

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 17:15

Ricochet

Ricochet Report 18 Apr 2009 17:13

I searched using Emma's name..........just as well, as Cecil was mis-spelt!

Marcelle

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 17:08

How did you do that? When I tried it just bought up Cecil on his own! If I would have known then I would have done it myself!

Thanks to those who replied very much appreciated

Marcelle

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 17:03

Thats what I am trying to work out. if Cecil is with Thomas & Emma its a good lead

I started my step brothers tree for him and found his step sister for him yesterday. I checked the births as I could recall her name (luckily she not married) and then tried a social website and bingo it was her! I was so chuffed for them and they are meeting next week. Both nearly 40 and none of us have a clue about the family. It was lucky I remembered nan & grandads names etc
Sorry just had to share that news! lol
