Member Since: May 2007 Posts: 787 Send Message	Ok after months of not talking to my grandmother we have now spent the morning on the phone chatting away and have got little (very little) bits of infomation from her. Her first husband was married before but i am unable to find any information on the first wife what so ever. I ordered her death cert hoping that was going to help but to no joy. Nan has now given me some new information but its still so little to go by without a surname plus i cant even find a marriage for this person. Nan says that this person had sisters, not sure if older or younger and have now been given an area of where she came from. Please where do i start?

	First things first lol...you want to find the first marriage yes? so put the name of husband and wife on here and I and others will be able to look .. give what dates you know and we will be able to point you to records that might help rose x

Member Since: May 2007 Posts: 787 Send Message	This is the problem i have his name is Norman Charles Chamley and her first name was Lilian i do not have a maiden name for her and the only marriage that can be found for him is to my nan which is the second marriage. Lilian came from Salford Manchester, she died in 1947 age 26 yrs

	Did the family live in Salford? There are two Chamley births in Salford, both with a mother's maiden name of Murgatroyd: Name: Brenda Chamley Mother's Maiden Surname: Murgatroyd Date of Registration: Oct Nov Dec 1941 Registration district: Salford Registration county: Lancashire Volume Number: 8d Page Number: 670 Catherine Chamley Mother's Maiden Surname: Murgatroyd Date of Registration: Jul Aug Sep 1943 Registration district: Salford Registration county: Lancashire Volume Number: 8d Page Number: 691 Edit Don't think they are your family - there is marriage between a Samuel Chamley and Murgatroyd in 1939 in Salford.

	but I have searched through the qtrs from 1938 to 47 (apart from the last qtr of 1943 which is missing and that is the only Norman C Chamley marriage....

Member Since: May 2007 Posts: 787 Send Message	This is correct Lilian died in the April 1947 and then Norman married my nan in the October 1947 Lydia J Hatcher. I cant find a marriage either and on the second marriage cert his is metioned as a widower. Im lost and confused.

	Hi Samantha ...well unless he married in that missing qtr of 1943 he must have married before 1938... what year was he born, so I can work out how early to look?

	Was he in the Forces during the war? Could the marriage have taken place abroad?

	well looked back to 1935 any further and lilian would have been too young to marry...what details appeared on her death cert?

	oooh well done finding that qtr Mary! it was bugging me lol... but seems there is no marriage to be found... too many Lilians born in Salford to pin one down also
