Georges son was Arthur Edwards

He married Rachel Dayer (a widow who was born Rachel Plunkett in Liverpool) at the registry office in Liverpool in 1927. Arthur was not married before according to the marriage cert.

They had been together for at a least 16 years and had 7 children together before they actually got married. Their son (Arthur Thomas Edwards - my G Grandfather) was born in May 1911.

I cant find Arthur and Rachel on on the 1911 census, however I am waiting for the Wales info to become available as I believe they may have perhaps come from Wales or at least spent some time there as Rachel first husband (Edgar Dayer) who died in 1909 was from Monmouthshire.

thanks all

Where were they married?

Would you like to post details of the marriage certificate, including year, place and witnesses.
Sometimes it's easier to help if one has the full picture.

Some brewer's with surname Edwards coming up in the 1881 but no George!

Have you tried looking for the family on the 1891 census? That would give you George's age and POB and would also show any other children.

You can search the 1881 census by occupation on Ancestry - not sure about other sites.

Hi

From My Great Great Grandfathers marriage certificate which I have recently recieved, I have discovered that his father was George Edwards, a Brewers Assistant.

George would have been born circa 1844 (give or take 10 years) - My Gt Gt Grandfather was born in 1883 but I dont' know if he was the youngest or oldest - (or even only) child!

As George Edwards is quite a common name and I am not sure which area the family are from, is there a way I can limit the search by using his occupation?

thanks
Lianne
