Well done

I saw that marriage for Sarah to Andrew and did wonder seeing as Elizabeth had a son called Andrew but cos i couldn't see them together on the census i wasn't sure. Now that at least puts Elizabeth in Cardiff..but still no sign of a marriage

Some people hate naming patterns but i love em as it makes it easier to search

I can't find them on the 1881 so what i would do is get Elizabeths B/C to see what her dads name was & try to use that to help find them in the 1881

Looks like we can discount the Thomas Cook marriage in 1886 as this is the missing spouse

I've looked at the image on freebmd and it certainly looks like 3_9, and I've tried everything from 309 to 399 and no Elizabeth Johnson at all.

Got to go out, will try again later.

Hi Blossom,

it's so frustrating, i thought it was the marriage.
But i can't find Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Moved between Clifton and Cardiff, her brother was born i Cardiff.
Though i can not find her family after her marriage, i was more interested when Elizabeth was. Her father Andrew was in the Navy. And as far as i know it was only her and her brother Charles John G Johnson. In 1881 she is with her mother at Dock Gardens in Clifton, her mother was Sarah Johnson nee Goodland.
But i would really like to know where they got married, but i think Julie maybe right, they may not have registered the marriage, or even got married at all.
I thought if i had it, it would prove once and for all if Sidney was his father.

Not at all sure about this one for 1871: EDIT Just checked and both Celia and Leah were born in Chardstock so it would appear to be the same couple.
Could Sidney be John Sidney .

Also looked at the image for Thomas in that marriage and you can't make out the middle number

Blossom,

that is the one i keep coming up with, but when i go to the images and look under Johnson, there is nothing there for Elizabeth. The date and place is perfect.
Do you think it is worth me applying for that certificate anyway?
It may come back with the result i need.

Astra,

I have not seen that image before, it looks like he was called Thomas all his life. Maybe thats why he used Thomas on everything up untill his death, in 1942 i guess he would have needed his birth cert to reg the death, maybe that why it has his correct name.
