I am looking for Jason Knight b1841 ish in Stourbridge. Can anyone find him in the 1851 census? The area is Bromsgrove, and I am searching for the name of his parents. I have requested the birth certificate, but as yet there has been no joy in locating it even though I have ref numbers!

Weve already been looking at that one further up :) Sadly there is also a Jason Trow that fits the bill for that marriage. The Knight marriages have been found.

No good speculating though, the marriage cert is the way forward.

i think she was suggesting Charles Knight married Mary Trow and adopted Jason and they all changed their names but not to be

As put before: there is a unidentified J... Knight born 1845 Bromsgrove which could be him

but this dont explain why he is not on census until he is much older

FreeBMD has it as:

It is an I, not a J -- alphabetical order and all that; it comes after Hester and before Isaac. But it could be a misreading.

And what the original actually says is:

Knight I---------

-- i.e. a big long line where the rest of the name would be.

Could be that the GRO transcribers couldn't read the name!

So I'm dying of suspense -- *is* that the one you tried to order, and if not, what was it???
