I am trying to trace whether a Reginald Healey who had one son Stanley before he married my grandmother Nellie Parkyn, had two daughters as well when he married my grandmother. They may have been called Margaret and Rosemary. My grandmother married Reginald Healey in 1939 and he died in 1940. My mother was born in 1925 and she moved to Cornwall in early 1940's. When we were in our middle 40 ies she mentioned that she had two half sisters but that they were put into care when they moved to Cornwall because my grandmother was unable to look after two young childred. Can anyone help me find these two . Thank you..

What was your mother's name?

Phyllis

Phyllis Report 8 Jun 2009 14:27

My mothers name was Jessie Higgins. She also had a sister called Ada Violet who was born in 1920. Their fathers name was George Albert Higgins but unfortunately he did not marry my grandmother so therefore are unable to trace him also.

Regards Phyl.

We need to know when - and where - Stanley was born.............

Phyllis

Phyllis Report 8 Jun 2009 15:23

Stanley Joseph was born 1909 in Wembly registry area. Have not got a birth date. 6a 643 Birth. I believe I have a first marriage for Reginald of JFM1908 in Paddington. I am hoping this informaton all ties in.

But if Stanley was born c 1909 then he would have been 30 when Reginald remarried in 1939. So if there were two young sisters they must have been born in the 30,s? but you say your mum was born 1925!!
Something not quite right in the dates??

Phyllis

Phyllis Report 8 Jun 2009 15:40

No because their were two different partners. Firstly my grandmother had Ada Violet 1920 and Jessie 1925 by George Albert Higgins who she never married. She then married Reginald Healey in 1939 he died in 1940. His first marriage was in 1908. He had Stanley from this marriage.

The two young sisters would as you say have been born in the thirties, I presume middle to late. Because they were quite young.

All I know is that in the BMD 6a 643 it is shown as Wembly!!!!

Ah Ok .that wasnt clear re your nan living first with Mr Higgins But still its a bit odd for Reginald to have two young daughters still at home in 1939 and If they were your mums half sisters then they couldnt have been Reginalds because he was no relation to her other than marrying her mother,OR did Nellie and he live together and have children before marrying in 1939?

Another thought I have been in touch with a relative of Reginald and knew Stanley as Grt. Unc. Stan and they lived in Willesden area. They Originally, that is Reginald, lived in the Rutland Area.

Although Nellie was my grandmother she also led a colourful life by all accounts. That was put nicely was it not.!!! The details of the two girls are a bit thin on the ground. They originally came to me via an Aunt and then I tackled my mother about them. She always knew them as her half sisters although through marriage they were not. She knew they were quite young but being a teenager at that time did not take the interest in them that perhaps an older person may have.

Anyway all this is sketchy, but when a seed has been planted you try to get to the bottom of it and I have been trying for some time to get a balance on BMD but nothing is tying up!!.

Is this the birth which you say is Stanley?

Births Dec 1909 (>99%)

HEALEY Stanley Joseph Wem 6a 543 OR 643

Wem is in Shropshire

Phyllis

Phyllis Report 8 Jun 2009 15:57

Thanks for the Wem reference, I assumed it to be Wembly. No you have not read it wrongly. It is that far apart. Thats why it is all beginning to be difficult to tie up. Even if my grandmother had them, which my mother said she did not, the girls came young into the household, my grandmother was 49 when she married Reginald.

I wouldn't have thought so...........check any road map. there's quite a distance between the counties.

You info seems somewhat disjointed.........have you thought of purchasing the cert of Reginald's 1939 marriage to find out his father's details?
