Thank you very much Julie for the latest information. I will follow up on that next week. Any Meads connection may be with my grandparents, Harry Fred1890 (who I thought received a payment from Tasmania) and Catherine Margaret Meads1890. He had a sister Dorothy1895 who married Alfred Weatherall in Mar 1918, Maidenhead 2c 945. They had a daugther also Dorothy in 1921. Harry's father Thomas1862, married Mary Ann Higgins1854 in 1889, Henley 3a 1021, (fibbed her age 5 years younger), two uncles, Frederick1859 who married twice (Elizabeth Gomm1861-1885), Rickmansworth 3a 303, children Frederick1880, Mary1881 and Arthur1883. Then he married Annie Davis1865 in 1886, Henley 3a 707, children Ernest1889, Frank Sidney 1891. He died aged 41 in 1901! Then there is George1866 who married Eliza Eastick1853 in Mar 1890, Swaffam (Norfolk) 4b 529, not searched for any children yet. Does this help?

You probably have this... but I would think that 10 years after thier marriage and no children on the census record with them possably means that they did not have any surviving children (is any at all)

Terrance I have 'cut & pasted' your info so that I can space it alittle for easier reading...

my grandparents,
Harry Fred1890 and Catherine Margaret Meads1890.

He had a sister Dorothy1895 who married Alfred Weatherall in Mar 1918, Maidenhead 2c 945.
(...marriage registration says "Wetherall")
They had a daugther also Dorothy in 1921.

Harry's father Thomas1862, married Mary Ann Higgins1854 in 1889, Henley 3a 1021, (fibbed her age 5 years younger),

two uncles,
Frederick1859 who married twice (Elizabeth Gomm1861-1885), Rickmansworth 3a 303,
children...
... Frederick1880,
... Mary1881
....and Arthur1883.
Then he married Annie Davis1865 in 1886, Henley 3a 707,
children...
... Ernest1889,
... Frank Sidney 1891.
He died aged 41 in 1901!

Then there is...
George1866 who married Eliza Eastick1853 in Mar 1890, Swaffam (Norfolk) 4b 529,
not searched for any children yet.

So the people in Tasmania could be the grandchildren of your grandfathers uncles..? ?

You are going to have to do alot more searching to find out some names...

However, there was an Arthur and an Ernest on the list of MEAD's I gave you.
I wonder if they dropped the 'S' off the end of their surname. ? ?

Thanks again Julie. Yes I thought the same thing about Arthur and Ernest. I'll do some more searching next week.
Oh while I am here, there is some confusion in lists over my GGGfather George Meads1838. (Thomas's1862, father). It seems the same name is registered as Wandsworth 4 430? I'm sure my George would have been registered in the usual Henley area (Medmenham). He married twice, Mary Ann Mills1837-1877, in 1858, then Eliza Hannah Bowler1859 (20 years younger!) in 1878.

Just a thought...

where were the registration offices back in 1838..?

Maybe they were well spaced and it was a case of going to the closest, not neccessarily where you lived.

Terence

Terence Report 10 Aug 2009 01:24

The registration district could be Wycombe, Bucks, with 8 sub disricts that cover some of my Meads ancestry. (This is at least for my GGmother Mary Ann (Higgins) bJFM 1854 Reg: Wycombe, Bucks 3a 375). Created 1-7-1837. GRO Volumes: VI (1837-51), 3a (1852-46), 6A (1946-74).

Hello Terence
Just been into the electoral office and there are 42 Hazells in Tasmanian the current roll.
None have any of the names..Alfred,Thomas,Sarah or Edwin as first or second names..thinking of family names.
Also loads of Meads.
Have you any idea what part of Tas they were in?
An alternative to writing to all 42..Ourlocal paper has a Trying to Find type column each week or so. The Tasmanian Mercury...you could put a message in there.
Sorry I am not more help.Eileen

Hi Desiree,

I sugest that you start your own thread in your search for Eva Hazell. Your request could get lost attached to Terence's thread.

To start a thread, go to the 'Trying to Find' board and click on "Add Topic", which is in the dark green area in which 'Trying to Find' is written

Also have you tried searching the trees here on GR ?

Click on "Search Trees" in the dark green line near the top of the page, and enter her name.

Good luck in your search

Julie
