I am trying to find my gt grandfather Alexander Quinn born Killyleagh Norther Ireland in 1851. He lived in Whitehaven Cumbria later, which year i dont know. He married Isabella Mirehouse in 1874(she was from Liverpool) they had 4 children Margaret, Richard, Mary, and Selina. Isabella died in 1888 aged 34. He remarried a Margaret Hetherington Of Whitehaven in 1889 and had 2 children , Isabella and Richard. After thatthings are a bit hazy. then Alexandermet Esrher Cockbain she was from Birkenhead and although they didnt marry. she had 9 children with him, Alex, Martha, Sara, Emily,John, Esther, Florence, and Margaret.
If anyoneout there has additional information about AlexQuinn. I would love to hear from you.

I am a bit puzzled by the info u sent.
Esther born 1874 never had Alex Quinn's name she was Cockbain. They never married.
Do you know who James was born 1876? We have never had the name mentioned before or Bernard.

Re your query on the 1911 census info provided you would need to look at the actual image to see the places of birth and relationships -James and Bernard might be nephews or cousins and esther is apparently calling herself Quinn by now -figures shes earned it!

Sorry you'll need to pay the pound for the transcript or £3 for the original as I couldnt work out who's who without buying it, but they appear to be the right ones.
It will give their address too. and probably be signed by Alex so its nice to have the real thing with his handwriting too.

That makes no sense, Hazel. What Ann is saying is that you have numerous threads (original messages) about the same things. The reason that is against the rules is that people waste time doing the same work someone else has done to help.

Did you mean to say **thank you** for all the hard work people have done for you in this thread, out of the goodness of their hearts?

Maybe you don't know that everyone who helps you here pays a membership and is just a regular member like you?

And out of the goodness of my own heart:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/igi/search_igi.asp

You will find the details of the 1851 Alexander Quinn christening there, Hazel.

You might find other interesting stuff there too, or at http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

And if you do get around to saying please and thank you - and explaining exactly what you're asking for help with (in your other threads -- ancestors? descendants?) - who knows what might be forthcoming??

JaneyCanuck Report 3 Aug 2009 21:51

I think Hazel is still maybe a bit confused about who is replying to her.

Hazel, your posts appear on the big general trying-to-find board (not just under the surname where you posted them).

If you see this

"To list the entire trying to find board again click here"

when you click on Trying to Find, then do "click here" where it says. You'll see the entire board as we see it. Do read a few of the threads and see how things work around here.

You don't want to argue quite so much with the people helping you.

"Esther born 1874 never had Alex Quinn's name she was Cockbain. They never married."

Do you suppose their neighbours knew they weren't married? Not likely!

So she was undoubtedly called "Mrs Quinn" in the community, and reported that as her name on the census.

You can pick up all sorts of useful background info like that around here.

JaneyCanuck Report 6 Aug 2009 21:59

I was a bit confused at first, but it's the 1911 census Lindsey's referring to, the household of

HOUSEHOLD QUINN ALEXANDER M 1852 59 Whitehaven Cumberland

You have to go to the census site and search for him, and you click on the button to see the transcript or the original image.

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

It will give you a link in the upper right to "buy credits" so you can see the details.
