I did not see the post in question but i would like to say that whenever i have asked for help i have received it and people giving their time and efforts generously i do not come on a lot as like one of the other posters i care for my 90 year old mother and two lunatic yorkies so don't get a lot of time so i would just like to say that i for one appreciate all your efforts on behalf of people like myself who ask for help you are bricks (not the throwing kind either)

I think all of us who help will agree that we are not looking for gratitude in any way at all - we are just so pleased when we are able to find something to help people and we really enjoy doing it, or we wouldn't be bothering. To get a message of thanks is great and much appreciated, but as I said, certainly not what I am looking for. I get a great feeling when I do find something

Hi Everyone. All I can say after reading all these emails, is -The poster is the one who lost out! I have never had anything other than helpful answers, or advice from this site, and it has helped me fill out my tree. Being in Aust. it is sometimes difficult to find all the sites needed to get the correct data, so thanks again to you all

Cheers, June

Hi all,

I suppose it takes all kinds, a bit like the "007" requester a few weeks ago, who wanted not PMs but e-mail addresses of those willing to take up his challenge and help.......... Not something I'd recommend.
Next thing I noticed, his thread was gone!

I have certainly not been aware of any "malpractice" by the regular contributors to this site, as it is more often than not the requesters who appear to get upset when quizzed further on their requirements, while you girls (I use the word loosely) and guys just plod on as best you can trying to tease out that small piece of information that may just solve the problem.
In some circumstances, the insignificance of a spelling mistake can be disastrous so it can only be hoped that posts be checked carefully and if you make a mistake .................here's a clue

1. Across.

Feeling or expressing regret or penitence.

Hey, it's another one of those five letter words ..............s#rry !

Just try to help those who give their time freely to help you.

and to think she had the nerve to call us rude and unfit people!!

Smiley

Smiley Report 5 Sep 2009 12:56

Yes she has indeed, been doing genealogy for 7yrs don't you know.
She was in a HURRY (and it was in caps) when she typed the request so she got the name wrong, stlll doesn't explain why our help wasn't aknowledged or our Q's answered when she edited the first post.

Oh well..........................

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 5 Sep 2009 11:23

no - but she probably has!!!!

Smiley

Smiley Report 5 Sep 2009 10:58

Did she also say Ann that she has 7000 people in her tree, and 3000 on GR.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 5 Sep 2009 10:30

I didn't change the heading - GR must have done it

ElizabethK

ElizabethK Report 5 Sep 2009 10:05

I think AOGG has been guilty of deleteing her original thread with the comments regarding the response from the poster (who also deleted her thread !) she accused Ann and Cynthia (? not sure ) of being "disgusting" and "rude" and said she was reporting them to GR

I think Ann has changed the headings ?

Have you still got the original Ann ? though I expect it is better to let it die !!

Julie Report 5 Sep 2009 09:53

Would you mind to send me the name please......the only thread i saw with an ugrent was someone look for an up to date death, if it was that i i can't remember who posted it though lolol

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Sep 2009 04:19

oh I say ........

I'm so happy ........................

.... there's one person who didn't call ME rude!!

I didn't see this thread .................... so I escaped the rudery

BUT another thread owner did accuse ANOGG and myself of being rude on another thread! To wit

"Frankly I am disgusted at the rude response I have had to a very simple request with plenty of please and thank you's on my part."

he didn't give all the information he had, and objected to being told it would have been useful!
