I have followed this one in census records but he (frederick) is still at home with father (trafford) in 1901 census,
Interesting though trafford junior (15 in 1881, 36 in 1901) did have a son called george born 1896 but this does not tie-in with the fact that george's father was supposed to be called frederick!

A possible?

Given the age difference with his wife, could George Jnr have gone to Gparents? Maybe she is wife No2 and No1 had died?

The marriage

Possibly interesting

Marriages Sep 1895
Houser Mary Beckwith Goole 9c 1102
Spellman Catherine Goole 9c 1102
Thompson Henry Goole 9c 1102
> Watson Frederick George Goole 9c 1102

Marriages Sep 1908
> BROWN Edith Sleaford 7a 965
THACKER Susan Eliza Sleaford 7a 965
> WATSON Frederick George Sleaford 7a 965

I'd just been looking at this birth:

Births Mar 1896
Hunt George Stanley > Goole 9c 847

but couldn't place him in 1901.

If Frederick George had had a relationship with someone else that resulted in a pregnancy started before the 1895 marriage ... (Or if the 1895 marriage is just a red herring and was someone else.)

Janey

What are the chances he was Edith's natural son and they married later, so he's born a Brown?

Or even possibly Frederick is a step parent?

Tracy, thee gives me a pain. ;)

(It's a quote from my mum's favourite movie, Friendly Persuasion.)

I click on My Threads, I find you've put it here and you didn't need to make me go messing with my inbox ...

1901- John's a dock labourer ...

If our George actually was a saddler - and since it's on his marriage certificate, it seems likely he was - his father wasn't necessarily a saddler, true. Many people who made up fathers when they married also assigned them their own occupation. Like ... my weird gr-gr Ernest Augustus Hill/Monck himself did!

Oh, btw - ditch that George Stanley Hunt. He did show up in 1901 in Google, with parents George Joseph and Mary Elizabeth.

Pft. Not Google -- Goole.
