What lead you to send for this birth cert in the first place?

What other info do you have on the family?

yes have found her in 1881 and 1891 with her parents and 1901 with her husband william, she was from grt crosby lancashire parents are from co caven ireland. martha was age 6 in 1881 her mum was widowed age 45 she was a charwoman, i thought the certificate i was getting may be rite as there was only 1 in 1875 but it didnt say her dad was stephen riley and her marrige certificate did?

her age on the census is at her last birthday so at aged 6 she could be having her 7th birthday in 1881 so you should also check for a birth c 1874

Do you have Martha's marriage certificate? That's where you really need to start, to see what it says for her father's name. Otherwise you could be tracking the wrong Martha around the censuses!

Becky Report 10 Sep 2009 19:30

Ah, okay, so you do have Stephen from there.

Have you identified the births of any of the other children? If you got one and the father was Stephen, you could be pretty sure it was a sibling of Martha.
