Lancashireann
I have a marriage cert for james and sarah harrington 22/01/1844 county of mon, but can't quite work out the town name could be rhiwderin, sarah was from risca.
Where did you find the baptism records. Wiiliam is one of their children born 1844 which I got from a census. I am particulary interested in George Harrington son of james and sarah (direct ancestor), I have him born 1848, but have look at many records 1848 and either side, but have never found it, if you do find a baptsim, I would be very grateful.
Many thanks Denise

it could be that the census for where they were living in 1861 is unavailable. I have relatives in Llanfoist and I know there are areas of that village which are lost

where were james & Sarah married - can't find it in Machen & Risca not yet transcribed on mon famillies site

Thank you all so much, at least I have something to go on, my luck it is entry 153 !!!. I am going to order Benjamins birth cert so at least it will show registered address. I think it will be Machen and not Risca as in 51.
Again thank you all so much.

1871 their address is hard to read but could be Fwrwn (in Machen)

using findmypast and looking at the street in Machen
I can't find them however there is this entry....

153 THIS SCHEDULE WAS LEFT FOR A PARTY FROM HOME AND HAVE NOT RETURNED ON 8 APRIL###

Would be typical if that was them!

1861 Census
Fwrwm, Machen
Newport, Monmouthshire
RG09 piece 4027 folio 87 page 27

Vicci

Vicci Report 18 Sep 2009 02:17

one of the children Benjamin was born Machen 1861

Births Mar 1861 (>99%)
HARRINGTON Benjamin Newport M 11a 187 Scan available - click to view

so they should be there somewhere!

GR do not have the 1881 census as it is free nor the 1911 census for the other census you get redirected to other sites

Findmypast I think it better for transcriptions but I usually use Ancestry

Hi
Does that mean that differant web sites have differant information as the 71 census is not on genesreunited.

Just looked for James Harrington with wife Sarah, specified birth year but not place. Maybe you are putting in too much info, I find it pays to be quite general then refine details if you get too many results.
I used ancestry, I think glitterbaby used findmypast.
No luck with 1861 at all!!!

Thats fantastic, how did you find the 71 census, I can see that there are some spelling mistakes which is maybe why I couldn't find it eg Mantygle should be Nantyglo and sarah and benjamin are spelt wrong , but it looks like the correct family. I have tried all sorts of ways because of the spelling etc and I am so grateful to you.
Many many thanks
Denise

PS what website did you use?

Gl;itterbaby, thanks - have just edited above to say sarah born Risca, which makes it a possibility.

Janet

Was just looking at that 1871 - occupation is brick maker so looks promising
