Did say that the image definately said Larney but I though maybe someone misheard the name when registering it or someone who didnt know how it was spelt in those days, hence me saying the accent bit? Like I said.. Clutching straws

Also why should he be in Liverpool?.. Should try Birkenhead as well, as that's where Augusta died in and also where his 2 boys was living at.

Am just doing a general search of all Williams - surname excluded - working on individual years - no location but using his occupation hoping he is still in the trade.

If that still draws nothing will just have to work on William + date and see what turns up.

Problem being (as in lots of other cases is that it a name that is easily mis-transcibed if the writing isn't clear.

Vera - I actually checked true BMD records and there was no William Looney for the periods either side of what you offered for Larney - so these are not transcribed records like ancestry. With the Gen you actually have to search qtr by qtr on each surname to find someone as there is no indexing for it.

could it be this one - I know the age is a bit out but it is only as true as the informant thinks it is so often a few years out

Still cannot find your William Looney on the 1901. William left the children with their grandmother and their mothers sister and her family. SO WHERE ARE YOU WILLIAM !!!!

The death ref looks a reasonable possibility - might give that a whirl cert wise.

Well Vera we can't say we didn't try hey!!

Let me see if this cert turns anything up and I will post a follow up if need be after that.

It just could be William is missing of the census. I have a missing family in 1901 and I know the address they should be at because of a child born just before census night and recorded just after from her birth cert.

Found out the side of the street I wanted the houses from 18-42 were missing.
Strangely I was born at 42

Sorry I cant help you as I no longer subscribe to Ancestry However you could try using his initials only and place of birth age .

Or try age ,place of birth and the area you are expecting him to be. I have found missing people this way
