Maybe if you print out these two pages and go over the details more slowly -- I'm still not sure you've 'got' it. ;)

Yes, the 1910 John Morton birth cert is needed -- the date will only be off the one you have by a few weeks likely, and you might find the day is right and the month wrong, for instance -- to check the father's name.

And the 1910 William Edward Morton + Clara Holdham marriage certificate is needed ... just to see what was going on.

But I'm pretty confident this is your crew.

I will take the information you have all provided and send for certs and check it all out.
Another pair or pairs of eyes do get results as I was not looking in the right places, this lesson I have learnt on searching today thanks to the kind people on Genes.
I paid and went on find my past but still got it wrong, i don't think i will ever be very good at this.

It never entered my head to think when John died his birth date could be given wrong which could explain why the records office did not find him.
So now I will work on the marriage cert 31-10-1941 it says he was 31 years old

Amazing how one little question answered gives the certainty a better air.

To obtain service records for John will cost you £30 about a 4/5 month wait after ordering and no certainty that they will be found and no refund if not found.
You also need a copy of his death cert and some sort of proof to you being a next of kin.

We do seem to have identified your John and his family! After rather a bit of effort.

Knock twice if you're following. It would be rather nice to know that you've noticed everything I in particular have found you. If you check the time stamps on the posts, you'll see how much time did go into it. The better part of two hours' free labour, basically, from me alone.

John was wounded out of the forces, do they keep records anywhere for wounded in action?

I have read and re-read but no where do I see Johns father Williams occupation from the 1941 marriage cert,am I missing something?

Ivy W M Morton married in 1931 in Hendon. Since she was born in 1911, I'll consider this not info about a living person.

The father's name on that marriage certificate would be useful info.

The marriages of other children in that 1911 household would be more useful likely, but identifying their births (to try to get middle names -- and to confirm surnames, since we don't know whose kids they were) is problematic.

And duh! John's birthplace in the 1911 was Ramsgate (in Thanet reg dist). So here he's been all along:

-- the first one is odd one out, not an extracted record, mother's surname not shown. For all the others, surname is Noonan, which is why I went looking for the Sarah Noonan birth.

Well, the 5 sisters would go well with that 1911 John - he had Evaline (likely what "Ellaline" is), Ivy and Mabel by then. ;)

There are no Morton-Holdham births 1911 onward (i.e. what we would expect to see from the 1910 marriage). Of course, Morton-Brown births are a dime a dozen.

This birth - unfortunately just before mother's surnames were recorded in the index - could be another daughter:
