Thanks Cynthia

I've followed the link now and it explains all 8 )

Hi Karen, will pm you. Didn't know about Aigburth St.!

BH1 it with be the Liverpool one. West Derby was a registration district in its own right.

From 1881-1922, Toxteth Park became a registration district in its own right and then reverted back to Liverpool. The entry you need is just before that time.

If you go back to the entry on freebmd, click on the word Liverpool and a new box will open. It tells you which areas are covered and it includes Toxteth Park. Hope that helps.

I've looked up the FreeBMD for William Jones and Mary Ellen & found
Wm Jones & Mary Ellen Lyons Sept 1890 - happy with that

Looked up Birth for Mary Ellen Lyons & found
a. 1872 Mar Chorlton
b. 1872 Jun Liverpool
c. 1873 Sep West Derby

My question is, which one covers Toxteth Park Liverpool?

B1 Report 30 Oct 2009 00:02

Where did my reply go? It was long too! I'll do it again 8 )

I'm in Sydney and have no idea except for the 1930s map and google maps.

1930s Aigburth is S for street and goes from Smithdown Lane to Upper Parliament Street.

Google maps shows it in the triangle of Smithdown Ln, Upper Parliament and joining on to Malt St . I don't see an Ullet or Park Rd but I think my Aigburth is West Derby. Does that make sense???

Hi, have glanced at this thread now and then as I used to live in Liverpool. I notice you mention Aigburth STREET - I used to live off Aigburth ROAD. Were they one and the same at one time? At the top or 'dead' end of Aigburth Road was Ullet Road and Park Road. Just curious really!!

Oh Maureen that's brilliant and it explains why I couldn't see Catherine on the 1911 census.

Oh yay you've just added another generation for me, terrific!!!

THANK YOU 8 )

You can search the 1911 census by name & occupation

I have found my man using his name, occupation Coal and his area - yipee, except I'm not signed up and don't have credits, oh well he's there and can wait for another day. It's amazing what's out there,

HOUSEHOLD JONES WILLIAM M 1892 19 West Derby Lancashire

Thanks to everyone for your help, happy researching

Yes I matched up the N in Jones to the N in the street name too but didn't get the t but in the list provided here there really isn't much else it could be.

B1...

I would go for Barnet Street...I have compared the actual "letters" (as written on BC) and the N in "Jones" and T in "Catherine" are configured as to match "Barnet" as the Street address ....

B1 Report 29 Oct 2009 06:01

The 1911 census is her family alright and it seems she had already moved on. I'm guessing she may have been a servent somewhere.

hmmm where do I go from here........

If a Catherine Hussey turned up as a servent somewhere there in no way of knowing she is the right one and even if it was assumed she was with William Jones, how many millions of William & Catherines are there.

As for the street name, I think it might be BARNET it isn't to far away from Bancroft - I think Bancroft is now the dead end of Aigburth St.

Thank you, that's wonderful

I now know it is BANCROFT or should I say it was as it's no longer there.

The leverpoole.co.uk is a great site for older maps.

Now for the 48 BARNEL??? Street West Derby listed on the 1916 birth certificate. I've not even had any luck I the website I mentioned above.

Has anyone else come across a street name like this on the census or certificates?

Cheers

I'm lost 8 (

Bancroft doesn't come up on Google maps either.

Are you talking about Beaumont St? As good as that would be I don't think it is that either.

I knew I had come across it before in the 1891 census
