Sorry for butting in - but the marriage on 21st December 1881 . Could it be that the marriage was registered in the January after it took place so it would take place one year but actually be indexed the following year. ie married 21st December 1880 but registered January 1881.

Just noticed your last post so that settles the marriage date question. If you got Duncan Jnr birth date from his marriage certificate, that can also be open to question. It could end up being the 1901 census sent earlier was the correct census after all.

I have Duncan born 1899 married Susanna Rodgers Ferguson 07-03-1927 but I don't have his parents cert. Sorry if I've been giving you the runaround but I'm getting confused with the 2 Duncans.

It Looks like McFadgen, it's terrible writing, maybe she was married before to a McKinnon?

Usually both the records office and the information on Scotlandspeople match up ... as they come from one and the same system. When you go to the records office in Edinburgh, you are actually logging on to Scotlandspeople ... via their computers.

I would need to see the evidence for myself before I would feel confident in what you've been told.

But I'm open to being corrected ... could be I'm wrong.

Someone looked him up for me at the records office and gave me that info. Someone else gave me info that he was born in England?

I can't find Duncan on Scotlandspeople for 1899.

He was born 16 Trafalgar St, GREENOCK Renfrewshire.
Parents wer def Duncan and Jessie McFadgen.

There is no sign of a Duncan Morrison being born in 1899 or 1900 in Greenock on Scotlandspeople (son of Duncan and Jane ?)

The nearest births for that name in that area are in 1896 (there are 2)
