Is the George Allen WOOD on 1881 census , the same George Allen WOOD that on the 1851 census was a prisoner? Please pardon me if the information is right in front of me in black and white! But I'm loosing the plot and not sure what I am looking at. I have read it many times. |

Thanks Margaret for your help. I am thinking of joining the Ancestry.com site. I'm waiting until I get another offer in my emails. When I get time I am going to visit that area to have a scout round where part of my family started. |

I purchased my BVRI many years ago and can't remember what it cost but I remember marvelling at how cheap it was for 16 cd's. It used to be available through the Familysearch website but I have been told that it's no longer for sale and the records are now available on Worldwide Ancestry. I stand to be corrected on that. |

I have just received the birth certificate for William Allen WELLS. His mothers name is Harriett Allen nee WOODS. I thought it was WOOD not WOODS. |

Hi Margaret can anyone purchase the BVRI, and is it expensive? |

BVRI is British Vital Record Index, a set of 16 cd's that I purchased many years ago. They're extracted from parish records so quite reliable. |

Looking at the original of that 1901 census, I believe the name could possibly be Harriett not Florrie H. The H looks like FL. Although comparing it with other H's on the page I'm doubtful. |
