I did try but thought you had to click on the pen which you used to do!!
And when nothing happened I gave up.
You know how good Im not on puters.

Sarah..
If you take out the 2 week free trail at ancestry you can search 7/11 to your hearts content and try to make contact with the person that corrected the spellings on the census.
Just remember to cancel your trail the day BEFORE its up if you dont want them to whip your money from the bank.
Its what I did to start with then realised I couldnt live without it so Him indoors gets it for my birthday every year now.

Anybody see Thomas Aaron king on 1901 or 1891??
cos I sure cant.

This site is not good for records, Ancestry is sworn by and at for most things.

Re the 1911 nationality - I wonder whether he did it for her because she was the married woman, the one who got all the info about how long married, how many kids born/living, and so the one who got her nationality added too?

One of life's little mysteries, why they did what they did when they're too long gone to ask now ... and probably wouldn't remember anyway. ;)

Well you notice he couldn't spell his name ...

She was married to him going on the marriage in 1903 that I posted on page 1,
They seem to have married straight after the birth of Edward King Howting

Remember the IY. He could have been in South Africa in 1901 ... many were.

Mmm ... yes, they were married ... I was just getting at how the form demands the marriage and kids info for married *women* only and he may have gone overboard from there.

Nobody has the marriage cert I assume? Need his father's name. Suspecting he may be one of the classic cases of born to an unmarried Ms. King, hiding in censuses under stepfather's name ...

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 7 Nov 2009 22:43

Wrong 1891 edited out!

But yes..the marriage cert is needed or his birth cert for parents names.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 7 Nov 2009 22:45

Nope. [I'll leave the birth ref to show that the Aaron in the censuses isn't our guy]

Births Dec 1883
KING Aaron Alfred Hoo 2a 537

Where is this guy in 1881? --

Will you edit all the bumph out of your census records?!?!?!? I am just so tired of ploughing through all that noise ...

Watch this:

[edited out the wrong stuff too!]

(but it isn't him so we should both just delete it from our posts!)

So its down to the wire here methinks, and anyway Sarah tells me she has just become a genaholic.
So will leave it until she asks for more help if needed and has the cert of some sort in her grasp.
£7 each from the GRO only if you dont know yet Sarah.

If you want more help on this lot Sarah please come back here and dont start a new thread as all the info needed to go back further is in front of us and work already done.

I really really appreciate both of you helping I'm just getting really confused with all the names.
I literally had a line going right back but something didn't match up and I had to delete it. There are a few parallel Kings and Howtings with loads of children and it's messing with my brain!

My nan doesn't seem to remember much but, if I can get her siblings names off her it'll be a great help!

I'm truly touched by all the help you've given me. I never expected such an amazing response

FannyByGaslight Report 7 Nov 2009 23:17

You really need to buy these I think to be certain you are on the correct lines, without them is just guess work.

Get those certs Sarah! Then we'll race to the finish.

Viv - this looks like the second time something in Kent is simply missing from Ancestry.

Can you give me the RG etc numbers so I can try that way?

>> never mind ... I was looking in 1891 ...

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 7 Nov 2009 23:35

Not anywhere on 1891 can I see any possible and that is the only 1901 on Ancestry or FMP anywhere near that turns up.
