James are you saying the you don't know where Tachbrook is? It is actually called Bishops Tachbrook and has a UK grid Ref of SP 313 613. The Village in 1840 was covered by the Parish of St Mary's

It looks like John Cox nephew in 1891 perhaps married David and Annie's daughter Florence (if i work it out right they were cousins then) and the children's names/dates you have are their children

Hi Jan,

I have a book of dates that was passed down to me by my mother. It includes a couple of people I can not place and wondered if you could help...

Reggie Cox B. 16.6.1898
George Percy Cox B.22.6.1900

I would assume they were brothers or cousins. Any ideas how I could trace there parents.

Cheers, James

Hi Jan,

Thankyou. I am intrigued as to where you found that info as when I search David Lane on freeCEN he doesn't come up.

Thanks for your help Jan, that clears it up a bit more.

Something else I could do with a second pair of eyes on is there children. I have...

Louisa 1875
Alma Rose 1876
Florence 1878
Elsie 1879
Emily 1881
Zillah 1881
Ada 1884
Fred 1886
hilda 1891

Can you confirm if I have all the children, too many because something just doesn't seem right somewhere.

Many thanks, James

Hi Jan,

Would Leamington be classed a Birmingham parish? See below for your post on 12th. Or do you think this could be an error on there part when completing the census?

Many thanks, James

Hi all,

I have just picked back up my family history after a hectic year. I've sent away for the marriage certificate for David Lane and Annie Johnson. But something I can not find is Tachbrook in Birmingham, Warwickshire.

Any ideas? Perhaps somebody with access could look at the original census for me.

Many thanks, James

she could be Katherine's daughter so turn out to have no fathers name on marriage cert? so as others have said i think the cert is needed.

Why not get her marriage cert and then look for her dad on the census

rootgatherer Report 13 Nov 2009 09:25

I think James that if you don't already have it, you need to buy her marriage certificate to find her father's name and occupation.

When yo have the marriage certificate come back to your thread here and give us the details if you still require assistance.

As a general rule, you really can't build an accurate family tree based purely on census information.

Dear All,

Do you think it would be fair to assume that this is my Annie Johnson living with her grandparents? Or is it still too wild a guess.

Cheers, James

rootgatherer Report 12 Nov 2009 15:23

Lots of reasons that a child can appear with grandparents on census records.

The Grandparents are infirm and need help.
The child's parents both work
The child was just visiting
The child is orphaned
The child had many siblings and there was more room at the grandparent's house etc.
